Snakes in a bottle

Red stuff.
During MMH class. Really tried to pay attention, but ... meh.
So Fyra, Jov and I dug through our bags to pull out all our pink/red stuff.
Fun. :)

We watched The Great Debaters yesterday, it was OK.
The subtitles sucked. Didn't help that the movie's full of freaking bombastic-isms and I couldn't understand what they were saying ... the subtitles just made me more confused.

Anyhoo, went to Subang Parade today to buy ice-cream! It's the 31st so yeah.
Baskin Robbins, baby.
Yum.
Bought If You Could See Me Now by Cecelia Ahern. It was among the suggestions for our ECS project so I looked it up on Wiki and got interested. 20% discount since that MPH is having a book fair. Not bad. Hoping to finish reading it by Monday.
After that went to KLIA to see Atuk, Matuk and Acu before they left for India.

Best part about going to the airport?

CHOCOLATES.
Uh-huh.
We saw this box of five choc bars that cost 60 bucks.
It's like the freakish designer label of chocolate. Gah.

And this Mira and I found in the prohibited items case.
It's a SNAKE IN A BOTTLE.
I'm not too sure what it was ... a drink? Yeah.
That should have a very ... unique taste.
Hmm.

The reason

'I believe I'm on this planet to do justice to this life that God has given me. It's like God has said,"Okay girl, here's your life. Let's see what you can do with it."'
- Roslyn

Found this lady's blog while searching for the old Royal Commonwealth Society Essay website.
Took a liking to it.

Eternity

First things first ...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VANESSA! :D

Anyway, first day of second semester!
I think it went by OK.
During IIT, this guy came in and everyone fell silent. I remember thinking, so this is our new lecturer. Hahaha, it'd be so funny if he wasn't.
Guess what.
He wasn't!
It was kinda funny. Haha.
Turns out whoever our lecturer is supposed to be s/he was sick today so we had two hours to kill. I dunno how we're going to cope our Mondays from now on ... we only get one hour of break with four different classes from morning to evening. What a nightmare.

Suki brought his new car today, so a group of us (Azhar, Vanessa, Michelle, Fyra, Jovenne and I) went to check it out. We could see it from across the road outside the college building, it was so striking. Haha. And it was pretty far away, considered. Just ... really stood out. Azhar took it for a test ride with all of us piled up inside the car. It was scary.

Oh and a lot of people were sporting new hairdos.
Totally random sentence sitting in the middle here like this.

During ECS we talked about what we're going to do for our English drama project for this semester. I'm pretty excited about it. Right now we're supposed to look up books that we can adapt into a stage play. Ms. M is leaning towards To Kill A Mockingbird. I love that book, but I think it'll be a little too heavy to turn into a drama. I'm worried it might end up boring. :/

So we all went off to do some research on possible script ideas.
And I stumbled upon Tuck Everlasting.
I saw the last five minutes of the movie once when I was 12 on Disney Channel. After that I waited and waited for them to show it again but they never did. I wanted to buy the book it was based on, but for some strange reason ... I never did. And the book just faded away from my conscious mind.
I read the synopsis just now at college.
And ... I kinda fell in love with it.
It's got some Twilight elements in there with the whole immortal thing going on, minus vampires, bad writing, lame plot-twists and annoying female lead. I watched it just now on YouTube. Here's the first part of the movie:

My eyes got watery at the end. I am so pitching this idea on Thursday's class.

The storyteller

Yasmin Ahmad
1958-2009
May Allah bless you.
Rest in peace.
:(

Found the news when Ashman posted about it on FB.
The 15Malaysia group was keeping tabs on her condition, and it was just announced around a half hour ago, give or take some minutes.
And I just found her blog like five minutes ago.
I've admired her, yes. But never really took the time to watch all her stuff, never got around to finding out more about her.

Well it's never too late to do that.

She'll be missed.

Scenes from a hat

I've watched these videos for so long ...
I'm starting to lose awareness of ... well whatever else that's been keeping me entertained for the past two weeks.
Who's Line is freaking hilarious.

Last day of holidays baby!
Starting tomorrow.
To mark the end, I will ... continue doing whatever it is I have been doing.
Yeah.
So much for getting a move on with my AfterParty novel-in-progress. I've only done one chapter. I'm so ... unmotivated to write at the moment. Blah.

*continues watching Who's Line*

Ancient cube of Rubik

Spent the past two days sweating in front of the computer.
Reasons:
1) Trying to learn to solve the Rubik's Cube off YouTube.
2) It was freaking hot, man.
3) I'm sick, it's a given to sweat off the fever.

So did it work?
YES IT DID.
I have beaten this crazy game! After years of buying from cheapo souvenir stalls in Melaka and giving up, breaking the cube into pieces because of clumsy fingers and finally deciding never to buy the stupid cube ever again (despite feeling like buying anyway, because it's pretty) I have DONE IT.

Took me two days following the YouTube videos.
And fifteen minutes by myself with some written down notes.
Haven't finished memorizing the moves yet, but hey! I just need to practice a few more times and I'll have it down pat.

That's one box ticked off my Things To Achieve In Life List.
:D

Strawberry sauce

Rainbow kittens. Inspired by the Pink Meow Kitty. :)

Pennacotta by Mama. Yummeyh.

Random convo:
Nazim: Kakya, why do they spell baloney as BO-LOG-NA?
Me: ... That's 'cause baloney is baloney and bologna is bologna.

Today, I am sick.
Bleurgh.
Had it coming I guess. The rest of the sibs already had theirs and I haven't been since the first few days back from NS. I just hope it wears off by the time second sem starts.

Can't remember what I wanted to write here last night.
Fell asleep at 9 because of the meds.
I haven't slept that early since ... since ...
Gosh I can't even remember.
Ah well.

EDIT:
Got results!
Happy beyond belief!
:D
Alhamdulillah.

My horse is a lawyer.

Wrote this during Mandarin class break.
The conversation on paper sounded lifeless, so I decided to throw in some Random.
Excuse me if my grammar is wrong. xD

"My mother is a lawyer."
This was what we were supposed to be writing in class today.

Aaaand this is what my classmate wrote. He forgot to put the ... the female character thingy.
So the translation is:
"My horse is a lawyer."
xD

And excuse me if my handwriting is a bit off too.

Oreo Freeze from J.Co. :) Yummy.

Went to Pyramid with the sibs and Acu to watch Ice Age 3-D. It was fun.

Mira: I remember when I was a kid, Acu was pinning something on my baju and I was worried that she would poke me and milk would come out.
Me: What? Milk? Why milk?
Hanna: Because she thinks she's a cow.

LOL at the 7 year-old logic. Hahaha. And at A&W:

Mira: I want drumstick. And that other chicken part ...
Me: Chicken breast?
Mira: Yeah.
Me: ... Chicken boobies?
Mira: YEAH.

The on the way home, we played the Alphabet Game. Which is basically yelling out random words that start off with that letter. Among the funnier ones:

Nazim: B is for ...
Mira: BANANA.
Nazim: Bee.
Mira: Bodoh. Bongok. Bangang.
Mira and I: BENGONG.
Hanna: Buntut.
Acu: Butt.
*pause*
Mira: Boobies.
Me: Chicken boobies.

We forgot the letter L. But that's OK 'cause L is Lame. And a Loser. But then again, L is Love. Huh. What to do.
We were high on J.Co glazed donuts. So that lasted the whole car ride home. It wore off as we went into the house. Started feeling nauseous. Hahah. Like a mini-sugar-hangover.

It was a good day. :)

When I grow up I want to be

J.K. ROWLING
IS
MY HERO.

:D

She's the woman who wrote the books that made me a geek.
The books that got me into fantasy.
The books that weaned me off Enid Blyton.
The books that shaped what ... most of my pre-pubescent years.
When I was 11, I was actually depressed when I didn't receive an owl from Hogwarts.
Joining the world of fanfiction taught me how to write.
Joining the world of fanart taught me how to draw.
What can I say.
The movies are pure entertainment, etc. I watch because they're entertaining.
Inaccurate. But OK.
It's the books I care about.
Thanks J.K. Rowling. You da bomb!

AND

I'm in MALAYSIAN TODAY!
No, nothing to do with Raja Petra.
There's an 'N' behind the 'Malaysia' so yeah.

Hehe. My first ever interview! xD

What up, gAang.

Look!
It's like they took the tan off of both Sokka and Katara and dumped it on Zuko.
I'm still a little disappointed at the casting (I'm satisfied with Aang though), but heck, if the movie turns out well all will be forgiven. If the movie turns out well.
If.
But y'know, Dev Patel and Jackson Rathbone, what's not to like?
xD

And look again!
Pink Meow Kitty is now a BADGE.
I'm thinking of making it into a t-shirt.
A blue t-shirt, with Pink Meow Kitty on the front.
With wings lah. I forgot to put his (yes it's a boy kitty. Or maybe it's asexual.) wings on in this badge.

Finally gave in my MARA loan form! Excellent. I don't have to worry about it for like. I dunno. Another few weeks? Then I have to start scratching my head over learning how to manage finances. There's a time for everything.

Meow meow

Umm what can I say.

It's the second day of holidays, and I'm just a leeeetle bit bored. xD

Today I:

Played Sims2.
Watched 10 Things I Hate About You.
Downloaded a movie download program.
Now waiting for a movie to finish downloading.
Wheeee.

Limey tuna

Semester 1 is over.

Went to the orphanage yesterday. I'll admit I was awkward at first.
But the kids are all so sweet. :)

The first kid I talked to was this little boy who wanted a pen to colour with. Gave him my purple pen, the one I've been writing Physics notes with since Form 4. Haha. He said his name was Amalata. Well that's what it sounded like. He asked me to write it down for him, so I spelled it out the best I could. I think he lost interest in me after a while (lol) and went off with his book.

Then there was a girl ... she couldn't speak. She kept making humming noises and little shrieks. She brought a book over and Aishah and I read a bit of it to her. Whenever she got excited, she'd squeal and butt her head into my shoulder. She tried to take my glasses a few times. Haha. She even brought a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles graphic novel over. I was like: O_O HOLY CRAP GRAPHIC NOVEL. And it was in pretty good condition too. I tried to read some of it, but it was kinda difficult cos she kept turning the pages for me. xD

After that I just sort of flitted around from group to group. Sang Rasa Sayang with one of the girls. Then had a group photo session. Real quick one.

I enjoyed myself, anyways. :)

One of the cakes Mama baked for the party.

Today, went to Mandarin class in the morning and helped Mama make sandwiches for Alyssa and Adam's birthday party. My little cousins. Surprising how awesome tuna sandwiches taste when you add in some lime juice and black pepper. Oh and mayo. Yum. Also, I've become a regular driver now. Haha! That one trip to fetch Mira really boosted my confidence.
I'm exhausted right now. Just really tired.

Before I retire (i.e. run off and play Sims2) ...

GO TO DR. MAHATHIR'S BLOG.
If you've got a bone to pick with the switching of Science and Maths back to BM.
AND VOTE VOTE VOTE.

EDIT:
One of the cakes Mama made for the party. The cake box squished it last minute, which is why the mouth is a little smudged.

Reconstructive surgery! Hahaha.

Flying solo

I went on my first solo driving mission today!
:D
Mira freaked out when I pulled up in front of the school just now. Classic hands to the mouth, scream in horror reaction. Hahahha.

Also, one paper to go! Then I want to get down to all the drawing ideas I've got simmering in my brain. Exams were ... well I have no comment so far. Except that I have a bad feeling about Malaysian Studies Section B. Sigh.

Also, I'm serious about going out for lepak. I'm feeling restlesssss.

HARRY POTTER MOVIE NEXT WEEK OMG.

Hmmm.

Pre-exam drawing syndrome

Last drawing until finals are over.
I hope.
Click for full view!
From left to right, Zatie, Faris and Sharif from my AfterParty universe.
Ngehehe. I can't help myself. This new colouring style is FUN FUN FUN.
My backgrounds still suck like last time though. Blargh. Ah well. Lots of room for improvement.

Had a dream this morning that zombies were out to get us all. Scary dream. I was the one who ended up driving the car away from the freaky moving corpses. And my skills are still in parent-probation status. Bah. That's what I get for sleeping after sahur. Hahah.

I'm done with IHC, halfway through MS and IMC.
Hmmhmm.

Feeling kinda cooped up. Like seriously cooped. If anybody invites me out lepaking after finals, I am all for it baby. :D

And I really want to watch this. I've missed Disney's more traditional methods. :)

Someone someday

Quite proud of this. :)
Got some mistakes though, sorry about that.
First song I played completely by ear ... all the other songs I play, I've looked up on YouTube for inspiration and stuff. This one's completely mine.

1899

Been wanting to draw this for a long time.
Yeah. I have a habit of opening GIMP2 and drawing all-the-way whenever exam seasons come along. Unconvinced? Dig through my older blog posts, most of the drawings I post are usually produced during exam periods.
What can I say, I like to get creative at inconvenient moments.

Anyhoo, Sharif and Mimo. Sharif's the dude, Mimo's the kitten. Not the other way around. xD Part of my AfterParty universe.
I have to start cracking on that project.
Y'know what I need? A deadline. Like assignments. Only then I'll be able to see a story idea through properly.
Sigh.

Guglielmo Marconi - the first dude to send wireless signals across the English Channel. Gotta admire his dedication to his work.

Peaches

Spontaneously watched this yesterday with the fam. :D

We were walking past TGV at OU when Mama noticed the poster saying 1st July. And by a stroke of luck, the movie was showing in five minutes! So we bquickly bought the tickets and hurried inside. We had to line up for a while though, so we missed out the first few minutes.

Anyhoo, the movie was hilarious! A lot of movies fall flat after a few sequels, but this one was fun. There was one part when one of the characters said, "You don't need the calories." and a little girl in the audience said, "What are calories?" So cute. xD

The movie was pretty predictable, but heck, it's supposed to be entertaining, and I was entertained. My favourite part was the one with the laughing gas. You'll get it when you see it. I laughed so hard, I started crying.

Now, back to studying. Yeayy.
