Whirlwind mind

"I stopped following Suicide Girl's blog. She stopped updating in August.
...
I'm kinda worried."
- Amira

Life has been one huge chunk of ... messy everything.
So hectic.

I just want to say that I really enjoyed the first week of Raya this year.
And I'm looking forward to the rest of the month.
Even though it looks super busy packed. Hmmm.
I'll live.

Raya rock

Ta-da!
Raya photos!
Did a candid one following the trend from last year. :)

Me and my darling adiks.
(Occasionally darling. Otherwise little terrors.)

Mama and Papa.
:)
A lot of the shots are candid. In a 'Mira clicked the button while people sat on a bench and did silly things' kinda way.

Me and Acu.
Oh and a flower (the name's Ah Flowa). At the side there. We posed with it.
Mira wanted us to love the bench but it was kinda difficult. :|

I'm eating Ah Flowa.

Me, Ah Flowa and Cubby the Camwhore Bunny.

No extra shots with Nazim because he was lazy.
These are just from the photoshoot in the morning, Mira has stacks more.
So. Enjoyed myself this year! Food was excellent, good company and fireworks at night. It was fun. :)

Pfft crack bang

Selamat Hari Raya everyone!

No photo updates for now.
Somebody is emo from watching Grey's Anatomy and takde mood to transfer pics for me.
:p

So have some low-quality videos of fireworks instead.
Hopefully I'll have the photos tomorrow.
Till then, stuff your faces with rendang, ketupat and kuih raya.

Layer me this

Baked kek lapis yesterday.

Two big things about making kek lapis:
1) Separating 30 eggs. :O
2) Building the cake layer by layer by layer.

Only the yolk will be used to make the cake. Only 5 egg whites are needed.
So the rest of the egg whites?
Well we'll be having a lot of yolk-less eggs for breakfast in the near future. :p

Separate the mix into two, one with rempah and one without.

First layer! This was around 11 or 12 in the afternoon.

FINALLY DONE.
7 hours later.
I spent the whole day in the kitchen with the laptop. Whee.
It rained in the evening so it wasn't so hot.
Sadly, I made the layers too thin so you can't really see the layer pattern. :( Still beating myself up about it. At least it tastes good. Hmmm.

Oh and as is tradition with every exam season:

Drawing yayyyy. :B
Sabriel (the girl) and Mogget (the cat) from the Abhorsen trilogy.
So. I've been re-reading the Abhorsen trilogy (best modern-ish fantasy book series ever forever in a bed of clover). I'd forgotten just how awesome it is. Sabriel (main character) is about the ONLY female main character in a fantasy series that I do not hate. She is cool. Very cool. The fact that Garth Nix is trying to make a movie out of this baby gives me happy tingly chills. If they do it properly it could be amazingly awesome. Like, zombie horror meets fantasy slash romance.

And Touchstone's actor better be pretty damn hot. Because I've built him to look like Hugh Dancy in my mind. Mmmph.

Sparkler friendly

Shot by Mira. Pretty cool. :)
So, we took out our bunga api stash for this year. Last year's one is better ... they're noisier, with popping effects. Haha.

So, second day of papers. I think it's OK. Made some silly mistakes for IT and blanked for one question in IS. Meh. Hopefully did alright.

Anyhoo. Lookit the badge.
Check out the official NaNoWriMo web for more info. Especially to you budding writers out there. I've been wanting to join this thing since I was 15! But because of PMR, I decided not to. In Form 4, I was a nervous wreck, so it was a no-go. And Form 5 was SPM year. So now I'm out of school, I AM FREE. I can take part in the project! So excited for November. I've already got a story idea and everything. :D

Keropok maco

Went Raya shoe shopping. Found a really nice pair. Heels.
Hope I don't tumble all over the place. Tau la tak biasa kan. :/ Haha.

Anyway, went to spend the weekend at Gombak, my grandmother's house.
Made keropok maco.

We split into 4 different departments. Always been like that. Haha. I've been placer of the ikan bilis since I was ... I dunno. 8? 9? Yeah.

Nazim: I want to eat keropok maco for sahur, so I'll be macho.
Hanna: What does macho mean?
Me: *dramatic voice* Masculine!
Hanna: What does masculine mean?
Me: Manly.
Hanna: So it's keropok manly?

HAHAH. I love Hanna's 7 year old logic.

Next week marks both exams (!!) and Extreme Baking. Looking to enjoy myself. I'm going to do kek lapis this year! Missed out on it last year because of SPM so I'm back on track. My favourite cake, so I get the honour of sweating my butt in front of the oven for ten hours to do it. Yeay!

Fruday for fresbians

What have we called ourselves?
We were The Jam-Band once, and the Aqualites. Called ourselves First Base at one point and sometimes we just went with The Batoos. And now we're the Fresbians! The drawing was one of many little comics and doodles I did of the four of us in Form 3. Throughout all these years, it somehow always comes back to our little quad. :)

Had an awesome day today. I'll admit that I've been feeling pretty lifeless socially, outside college. Everybody's always so busy. So it was great that we managed to get together for buka. Usually it's never exactly four of us, so this was a pretty good occassion.

First thing, went to watch The Ugly Truth with Nad!
So. I enjoyed the movie. Laughed like crazy throughout the whole thing. Helped that Katherine Heigl is gorgeous, and Gerard Butler is smexy. Also that random Colin dude was hot.
And the cat was cute. Hehe.
Fun movie lah. Not the best chick flick in the world, but still pretty cool.

Met up with Hannah and Iffah later at TGIF for buka. Major catch-up session. I've missed you guys! Not a conscious every day missing, but when I sat down I realised how much I've missed going crazy. Like how insane we were back in Form 3.

I love you guys.
Thanks for the super duper awesome day. :)

Emergency number

09.09.09

Wasn't that special a day.
Felt a complete rainbow of emotions, whole spectrum of good to bad.
Here's a quote I found while researching for Islamic Studies presentation:

"When the world brings you down to your knees, you are in the perfect position to pray."

:)
Good stuff.

Watching Love Actually right now. Lovely movie. One of my top favourites.

Grape vine

Couldn't resist, I bought another one of these things!
Went to the stall to get the first one framed and bought another one while I was there. Haha. Apparently I've become 'a regular'. Regulars get RM2 discounts. I feel so special. :3

Anyway, spent half Saturday and Sunday finishing this. So all in all I got it done in less than 24 hours. Not counting toilet breaks, buka, sleeping, etc. Not bad. I'm getting faster. Haha.

This one was a nightmare to do. I don't like how it turned out. Senget.

Took the liberty of re-painting the wood pieces. I don't like yellow very much. Oh and full view this one please! I put some little details on the tiny mug. I used some tissue and UHU glue to make coffee foam. Hehe.

The flowers were a joy to do. I wouldn't mind spending all day doing just the flowers.

The background behind the door is actually some old wrapping paper from my 17th birthday. Yes, I'm a packrat. My room is stuffed with odds and ends that don't seem to have much purpose.

Grapes were fiddly, since that the beads were so tiny. Mama gave me some tweezers to work with but I just used my fingers in the end.

So, there you go! Had loads of fun with this. Most definitely getting another one when I go to fetch my first one from the shop. :)

Hypocrites, mutant hamsters and bacteria sex

Today was interesting.
MMH was quieter than usual. The topic was loads more interesting than our previous weeks' so I put it down to that. But I agree when Jov said that talking about it kinda makes me angry. In a dang-I-can't-do-anything-to-fix-it sort of way. Meh what to do.
Jov played around with my phone, so the photo above is the product. Haha.
Also, there was an EXPLOSION in class. Phone charger went kaboom. :O

ECS was also interesting. Eco-cities. :)
Reminded me of the KN class we had in NS. Only then we had to create a country so there was a lot of talk of armies and tourism and agriculture. Heh.

Went to Curve after buka and bought another DIY frame kit. Thinking of doing it tomorrow since that there's no class. Whee.

Oh and click this image above.
It is bacteria porn.

Credits to Sammie for the brainfart. xD
