Wedding

Last Sunday was Mr R's wedding. :)
Left home early with Sammie and Jov for Sha's house. My first time ever driving into KL so I may have made a few wrong turnings. Heh. Stopped by Sha's place, then fetched Sharine and headed to Kampung Pengantin for the rehearsal. After that, went to KLCC to go wedding present shopping and back to Sha's house to get ready. It was fun.

Sha curled my hair for the occasion. :x I've curled my hair before for the heck of it but I always end up looking like zaman dulu movie actress gone wron
g or something. But Sha's technique actually looked OK so I guess it was just my own curling methods. Haha. The whole thing started to straighten out again before the wedding ended but it was cool while it lasted.

The wedding itself was fun, the location was gorgeous. One thing though was how it was so pretty on the inside and ... not so pretty on the outside. Haha. The food was nice and the performances were win. So proud of my classmates who performed. You guys rock!

Us and the happy couple. :)
This photo credit to Jov's camera.

Driving home at night was awesome because I didn't get lost. Yay. Sammie and Jov stayed the night and Pebbles made them welcome by ... sleeping on their feet. Weird cat. She'll be an arrogant snob around me but she's so hospitable to guests. Haha.

Anyway, it was a fun day/night. Wouldn't mind more of these things. :)

Lit up the world

Things I want to do during the soon-to-come holidays:
1) Paint at least one pair of shoes.
2) Finish my DIY frame kit.
3) Get a part time job during July.
4) Put together a Book of Motivation.
5) Finish reading my untouched stack of books.
6) Work on a short film competition entry.

I'll update this as the ideas pour in.
I'm looking forward to this long weekend! :B

Bandung

Bandung, baby! :)
Left on Friday afternoon. I've been looking forward to it for weeks, OK.

Saw this shop. That sign is for real, OK.
Atuk was so amused by it, he kept saying it over and over again long after we drove past.
"T-shit store. T-shit store. T-shit store!"

One thing about Bandung is ... the batagor.
They're sort of fried tofu and dumpling. Delicious.
... I feel hungry just looking at this photo. Sigh.

Check out what I'm eating.
Looks like ice-cream, right, right?

Wrong! It's a waffle ... ON A STICK.

They even come with scoops of ice cream.
After the currency exchange, the whole thing, ice cream included, cost about 3 bucks. Worth every cent. Heavenly, fluffy taste. If only they had a stall in KL. I had three during our stay there. Haha.

Here's another little novelty.
Corn in a cup ... with cheese and condensed milk.
Sounds weird but it tasted quite nice, actually.

There was some sort of cycling event going on so the street above was empty for about an hour. We could walk in the middle of the road no problem. Nice sensation. Also saw all these families with tricycles for the kids and whatnot. Very cute.

The whole family's set of luggage at the end of the journey.
There are nine of us all in all and every bag was filled to bursting.
I love Bandung for the shopping. The weather's also nice, albeit rather dusty.
Touched down on Monday evening with a fever and stomach upset. But well worth it. :)

Double wham

On Tuesday, walked into lecture to discover that THERE IS NO CLASS ON WEDNESDAY. So I zoomed out to have some fun with my Amanian girls. Had fun in Bangsar and at Sophie's house. We also went on a bit of a half day road trip which was crazy fun. It was an awesome day, a lovely break from the mess of assignments and classes that have become my entire life for the past couple of weeks.

Aaaand after classes yesterday we went out to surprise Ms T. A sort of thank you for being awesome and helping us with our drama. Also worked as an early birthday thingy for her so it was all good. :D And while we were at it we surprised Nick too, since that it was his birthday! Damn I love planning double whammy surprises. It's like a surprise inside a surprise. :)

The rest of the day was interesting. HOHOHO. >:)

I shall end this post with this pic. Because it's too damn cute not to. HAHA.

Movies in May

Shrek Forever After
Watched this with Mama, Mira, Nazim and Hanna.
Overall, it was entertaining. Much better than the third movie.
So Shrek's got everything going for him ... family, friends, people who love and adore him. But he's not ... happy. He misses the good old days when people would run at the sight of him and he could take a mud bath in peace. So he signs a contract with Rumplestiltskin to get one day as an ordinary ogre again. Of course as is the structure of most 'deal with the devil' plots, things don't go according to how he had hoped it would be. I'm gonna be honest and say that I actually really enjoyed myself. It wasn't rib-cracking funny but it was a funny that lets you feel good about the world. I liked the whole 'resistance' idea they had going on. Some parts needed some suspension of disbelief but heck, it's Shrek. That's pretty much expected. Also there were some nice little gags that need a reference to be funny, those really made me smile. :)
Watch it ... because it's Shrek! :p If you watched the others, might as well watch this to complete the experience. Personally, I think it's a really good mood-lightener.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Watched this with Mama, Mira, Nazim and Hanna.
Overall, I thought it was a cute movie, your typical middle school kid's movie with a slight difference.
The story covers the entire first year of Greg Heffley who is starting middle school. Greg has big dreams for middle school; he's going to be popular, everyone will love him and he's going to be at the very top of the social ladder. But the truth is, Greg is a bit of a jerk. He's selfish and cares nothing about others. His best friend Rowley is adorably ignorant of all the 'social rules' of middle school, and Greg sees him as an embarrassment, frequently using him for his own ends.
What I found interesting is how for once in a kid's movie, the main character is the obvious jerk. I didn't like him at all, which I think is kind of the point. He pays for it in the end though, ending up lonely and depressed. What he did in the end I guess redeemed him a little, but personally I still think he's a jerk. Haha. The acting was quite good, there are a few faces you can look forward to in the next few years kid-wise. Chloe Moretz especially I want to look out for ... she was Hitgirl in Kick-Ass. There's some versatility for you. :) They also had some graphics in the movie which I would say are just OK looking. The animation though was very cute and I loved it.
Watch if you're in the mood for some light-hearted kid fun. Also if you have younger relatives who will enjoy it.

Iron Man 2
Watched this with the fam.
Overall, it was just OK. Expected more, to be honest.
Most of the dialogue was boring, scriptwriting was too heavy on the infodump and too skimpy on the entertainment. Where did the wit and snark of the first Iron Man go? Acting was really good, but again if the script is bleh, the actors don't have that much to work with. Tony Stark was a good watch as usual, Pepper Potts was just meh (although I quite like their relationship dynamic). Scarlett Johansen's character is so boring. I am sorry. She did nothing for me. The main plot was predictable, most of the subplots were as well. The only time I perked up was when they brought Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury in. He brought some life to it, just for a little while. Action sequences were of course, yet another showcase of Wow, Graphics Are Awesome but ... had no oomph. I saw some video game animation going on for some of the fight scenes (nothing with robots or Iron Man). Would've liked it better if it were real and not animated. Also, wanted to slap Justin Hammer. What a jerk. :/
Watch ... for the sake of watching, or if you're an Iron Man fan. And if you're interested in The Avengers because there's some basic groundwork there for it. Also, I heard something about there being a tiny extra scene at the end (which I didn't stay to catch) so if you're going, wait a bit I guess. :)
