Paper bags and plastic hearts

I had no classes yesterday, so I was given the task of fetching Mira from school.
She came into the car screaming her head off.
About how there was going to be a free BLG concert on that very night.
I was like WHUT free are you serious.
And turns out it was TRUE. O_o

So we went to Bukit Kiara and sat through four acts to reach BLG performing at 10. I was quite impressed with the second act, Aizat. I only knew one song from him, 'I Go' from the Talentime soundtrack so I had good expectations of him. He was actually really good! The live version of 'I Go' is so much more awesome than the studio version. I wish I could have it. :( I even downloaded a few of his other songs I heard at the concert. Really nice. I like 'Fikirlah'. It's got a nice melody to it.

Anyway, BLG. The main reason we went.
I have no photos to show because my phone camera quality wasn't all that great and all I got was a mess of rainbow lights and a vague impression of the band amidst the coloured chaos. But the show was AWESOME. So totally worth it, waiting four hours to watch them. They played 'Love Drunk', 'Five Minutes to Midnight', 'Thunder', 'Heels Over Head', 'Heart Heart Heartbreak', 'Hero/Heroine', 'Two Is Better Than One' ... and there was one more song which I'm not so familiar with. Overall, an excellent show.

Martin jumped across the crowd barrier and did some crowd-surfing. (!!) Too bad we were standing on the opposite side of the stage. This is the second time I watched them live, but this time they've reminded me why I fell in love with their sound when I was fifteen. :)

In other news, I'm done with my group's music video project.
First time editing by myself, whoop!
I have some stuff I'm not all that satisfied about and I won't be able to rest until we're done with the presentation. Brr.

How's it like at the top

Number 1, Sri Aman?
Hmm, somebody's been busy. Haha.

I came online today after college and opened up MSN.

Hannah: So how does it feel to be from the number 1 school in the country?
Me: O_o What O_o

Number 1 in the 'sekolah menengah harian' category.
This is the position Pn A has been pushing us to since FOREVER. Gosh. I hope she's happy. Hahahaha.
I can imagine her repeating 'number 1 school' over and over again during assembly.
Dear juniors, do me a favour and count how many times yeah? I'm looking for something to top the record of 11 'cluster school' mentions during the first assembly of 2008. :p

Congrads to everyone, alumni and current students, as well as teachers.
All the work and sweat is worth it.

Bother

I've been reading 'A Spot of Bother' by Mark Haddon for the past week.
It has made me ridiculously depressed.
The past few days I've just been ... drifting. And feeling over-emotional. Overthinking things. Feeling strangely alone even though I'm surrounded by happy, smiling people cracking jokes and stuff.
I BLAME THIS BOOK.
:(
It's about this old man who starts to go crazy when he thinks that he's getting cancer. He starts to have depressing thoughts and every time I read it it makes me feel depressed and upset. And then his family life just seems to fall apart around him. Even more depressing. And he keeps crying about how he thinks he's going to die of cancer. And Mark Haddon is such a brilliant writer; he captures human emotion in words so well. You empathise with what the character is going through.

I feel so miserable.
I'm happy to note that I'm not suicidal after finishing the book.
I had to finish the book, couldn't just leave it.

I think I need to go cheer myself up now.

Kitty feet

Shoes, omg shoes.
For Hanna's birthday.
My baby sister is now 8!

These are the most fun shoes I've drawn so far!

I want to paint more.

College starting tomorrow.
I'm going to miss holidays.
These were fun holidays.
Thanks to all you people who made it eventful. You know who you are.
Back to THE GRIND.

Refresh ice lemon tea

2010 is a week old.
I feel so alive.
I hope that this keeps going. I'm going to need all the energy I need to get through Foundation and start Degree. I don't want to say goodbye to being 18 yet though. I kinda love being 18.

Also, never been so productive on the art front for a very long time.
And I'm feeling very comfortable. Maybe it's because of me keeping busy all the time but my self-confidence is at a good point at the moment, and I don't feel at all ... clingy, if you get my meaning.

Oh. And to a certain person I am BEYOND HAPPY FOR, I just want to say "SQUEEE HEHEHEHE LOVE LOVE LOVE." :)

One last thing to say:
Dear Person,
I really don't know what to make of you. I guess in the end the only conclusion I can come to is that ... you're having a hell of a good time with life. And I think I should take a leaf out of your book and do just that. Let loose and relax.
Thanks for the ride. I think I'll get off now. :)
You're still one of the most entertaining people I know. Keep rocking because that's what got you to stand out to begin with.
Love,
Me.

I've got Broken Strings by James Morrison and Nelly Furtado on repeat.
I'm getting a very Another Heart Calls vibe out of it.

Invader Zim shoes

More shoe painting shenanigans!
This time it's for Nazim's birthday next week. He's turning 12! My kid brother is finally going to be old enough to get an IC. How bizarre. :p Anyway, I'm OK with posting the pics up now because he definitely doesn't read this blog space.

As you can see, he's a big Invader Zim fan.
I had some issues deciding what to draw for him. I thought of maybe drawing some L4D2 zombies but heck that's a lot of painting to be done and I'm an amateur. So I settled for this.
I quite like drawing Gir. He was the easiest. x)

Tomorrow I'll start on making Hanna's shoes.
Yeah this is the problem with having siblings born close to each other. Scrambling for presents. Haha.
I still haven't finished studying yet. Pffft.

Conundrum

Read this and tell me what is this article trying to say.
Is the story about Miley Cyrus?
Or is it about Taylor Swift?
Are they really lesbian lovers?
Who is the twenty year old man whose mother would kill him if he got another tattoo?
And since when did Taylor Swift have a tattoo similar to her dad's?
Anyone with ideas, feel free to share. Hahaha.

Don't panic

First post of 2010 ...
And here is my new daily planner. :)
The last time I had one was in Form 5. I figured since that college has butt-loads of activities going on and I'm consistently out of the house all the time it would help me organize things better.

I'm re-reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy at the moment.
The idea of having a book with 'Don't Panic' on the cover in big friendly letters was very tempting.

Got back from Penang on Friday. Will post pictures when Mira passes them to me.

The very last song I listened to in 2009 was 'Waiting For Tonight'. -_-
For the first one, I switched my iPod to shuffle and stuffed my ears before the karaoke singers could ruin the moment with another lame party song (my first song of 2009 was Burning Up by the Jonas Brothers. I was in the dewan makan at NS camp. I could do nothing but stand there helplessly as the song played over the speakers). So my first 2010 song was 'Mercy' by One Republic. Good enough. :)

Some of the stuff on the planner I cut out from old magazines.
The little animals and stuff I drew myself.
I printed out 'Don't Panic'.
'It's raining kit kats and hot dogs' I came up with a few weeks ago and I have the MSN chat log to prove it.
:| No yanking and claiming own credit.

Happy 2010 everyone.
Here's to interesting stuff to blog about in a year's time.
