For Good

This is a really late update, but better late than never! A couple of weeks ago, me, Acu and Mira went to Singapore to catch Wicked at Marina Bay Sands. I've read the Gregory Maguire novel about three years prior, so I was interested in seeing what they changed in the musical adaptation. :) We left for Singapore on a Friday morning. Took AirAsia. It was a very short plane ride, didn't even take out my book to read.

The show was that night itself. After spending the day walking around ... OK I can't remember the name of the shopping mall. But it was right opposite our hotel. We spent the day there, then went back to the hotel to get ready for the show. Marina Bay Sands is huge! And pretty spacious. It even had a river running through it, haha. Acu contemplated trying to get into the casino to see how it's like in there, but Mira and I are underage. Oh well.

I'm comparing the photo taken above with the photo of Mira and I when we went to watch Cats at Esplanade two years earlier. It's very different. Haha!

Anyway, we weren't allowed to take photos of course, so I took this at the very end of the show. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Brought a pair of binoculars so I could see the faces of the performers. Really glad I did. I kinda liked G(a)linda in the show. Reminds me of Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony. x) They changed the ending completely from the book version, so I was taken by surprise. I like this ending better though. It's happier.

Night shot of the skyline seen from outside Marina Bay Sands. Gorgeous or what? Pardon the low quality image. Perry takes awful pictures at night. The weather was lovely, so we walked around outside for a bit before heading back to the hotel. The next day we went shopping at Orchard Road then headed home in the evening. Just a one night trip, but I think we made the absolute most of it! And I got myself some Wicked merch hehe. :) When I got home, I downloaded the Broadway soundtrack. Playing on repeat. So goooood.

Two bottles of stars

It's not the 2nd anymore ... just realised that it's past midnight. Doesn't matter though because it just means another day has passed since that day a year ago. It's been an interesting year, learning new things about both you and myself, and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

There's a lot of things I wanted to blog about, but it's been a truly busy week. I just wanted to note this down in blog history. I'm happy for the year we've had, ups and downs, and everything in between. We've been friends much longer than this ... almost two years now.

I'm just really really happy. :3

Ice Cream Class!

Sammie and I went to an ice-cream making class yesterday. It was a Groupon deal, so we got a discounted price on the class. It was fun! Got lost on the way to the class though, since neither of us are very familiar with Kota Damansara. Thought we were late but due to true Malaysian timing, we arrived way before the class even started. :p

Pre-mixed stuff.

Sammie hard at work! For our first ice-cream the chef came over and helped mix it for us since that we were worried about spilling so were moving very very slow.

Completed stuff packed and ready to be taken home to the freezer. It's kinda lumpy and unattractive at this stage. We were happily licking our mixing bowl clean with our fingers though! It was yummy.

The chef took up some cups from the morning class, and we got to taste the mango. Our mix was tastier than that one though in the end. :p So photo session with the fancy swirled ice cream! Mango and strawberry yoghurt flavour.

And here was my dessert for last night. Threw in a Belgian chocolate thin for fun. :3 It was alright, I like the strawberry yoghurt one more than the mango, which I think was a bit sweet. Should lessen the sugar the next time I make it.

You quack me up

One last post before the semester ends officially, tomorrow. :) Have some ducks! These feathery critters have been a great source of happiness for me this last semester at Taylor's Lakeside. I just get really excited when I see them swimming around in the lake. Cheers me up for sure! Hehe.

So tomorrow is the last day of the semester. How crazy is that? It's been a long semester. Tomorrow, I'm three assignments less burdened and the holidays finally begin! I'm going to make the most of it, Insya'allah. Here's to a fantastic mid-semester holiday!

The title of this post makes me laugh. Eheh. I'm such a dork.

Adelaide Taster Trip Part Trois

Time for my third and final update about my Adelaide Taster Trip! Above is a picture of the front of the Magill campus. The pretty scene is kinda ruined by the cones there in front of the sign though, haha. Not sure why they're there. Anyway, this was a Monday morning and my parents and I followed Fyra on the morning bus to campus. She had a class at 8, so we just tagged along.

Here's while walking into the campus. It is very very pretty. Papa seemed really pleased with it, he kept saying that he'd like to study there too. There's a creek running through the campus too! I didn't see any fishes though. Also, the crows there are black and white, how strange. No pics of that though.

Anyway, I went to talk to the people at the counter and stuff about next year. They couldn't really help that much since I'm not done with my current sem and I don't have an address in Aussie yet. So oh well. Fyra took me around one of the buildings and we got to see the library, so that's nice. In the pic above, the eating area is behind us, and there's a cafeteria inside and everything. I look really short in this pic, I dunno why. Must be the angle.

After looking around campus we walked down the street to check out Sammie's house and make a few calls to properties so we could go take a look at them. Sammie's house is super near the campus, it only took us five minutes of walking. After that we walked back to campus, met up with Fyra and took a bus back to the city.

We took a look at a couple of places in the city. UV Apartments looks like the inside of a horror movie. >_> Fyra and I went in and I could feel the horror soundtrack playing in the background of my head. Everything's really dark and the lounge area has grilles because the building was formerly a bank so that was where they kept the cash and whatnot. We tried to go to a few other places but there were tenants in all the rooms so they couldn't show us around. So far the place I like best is Urbanest. At the rate I keep talking about it, I'm pretty much confirmed living there next year, haha! Although I'm still looking around just to see what happens. :p

Yoghurt! We were walking down Rundle Mall and there's this Greek Yoghurt shop thing. Mama had some the day before so she wanted more. Mine was Cinnamon Apple Crumble while Mama had something called Strawberries and Cream or something. Mine was alright, the raisins in the yoghurt were the best part, I think. Along with the crumbly bits.

Here's Papa at Rundle Mall with statues of piggies in the background. Mama got quite a kick out of them, that's why she asked me to take this picture. There are three piggies in total, the third one is hiding behind the trash can. I think I like the one leaning on the trash can the best. It's got character.

Random picture of fluffy platypus plushies in a souvenir store at Rundle Mall. I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT but it costs 30 AUD wtf. ;__; So we parted ways.

The day was particularly windy, as you can see here. It wasn't actually that cold but it was like the wind was determined to change that, the way it was nipping at every part of me not wrapped up in fabric. Sammie and I are standing in front of the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. The Script performed here earlier this year. ;___; What are the chances of them going back to Adelaide next year so I can see them? Ahagjhgsjdghasj.

Random photo while waiting. We went to look at a house in the area and got a little lost so the house agent offered to pick us up and drive us there. Sammie took this pic three times because she was trying to get Papa to smile. She succeeded! Haha. :)

Very last pic the night before I flew back to the homeland. It's blurry though, such a shame. I had a really good time, and I fell in love with the city, it's such a lovely, quaint place. :) Kinda can't wait to get started on next year!

Adelaide Taster Trip Part Deux

Day 2 of the Adelaide trip! Here we are waiting for the bus. It was what, ten in the morning? We all slept at about 3 in the morning so waking up was kind of zombie-like. It was a Sunday morning and as you can see, the street ... is ... empty. Papa described it as being something like a ghost town. Haha.

Sammie was particularly sleepy. Considering that she got maybe a bit more sleep than Fyra and Aishah, she was pretty much sleepwalking the entire morning. x)

This was my all-day pass bus ticket. I kinda like how the public transport works over there, feels more efficient than over here anyway. And more reliable too. Buses come by every 15 to 30 minutes. And since Adelaide is an old people city the bus does this thing where it leans down so people with wheelchairs can come on board. I dunno if they have it here at home, I've never experienced it, haha.

So we took the bus to Harbourtown, which is the factory outlet mall thing. Was about 15 minutes bus ride, I think.

Me and the parents. :) I really like how windswept my hair looks here, hee. Anyway, they pretty much left me and the girls to do our own thing. I think they were enjoying the holiday together without having to jaga the kids since they were back home.

Okok guess what this is. :B It's dolphins right? Holes of dolphins right? THEY ARE HOLES OF DOLPHINS ON TRASHCANS. Hahahahaha I thought they were so cute, I shamelessly took a picture of it. I let myself only because for this trip I am a tourist so I am allowed to be overexcited about things like trash cans and take pictures of them. Next year when I go I have to play it cool. :p

The beach at Glenelg. :) It's nice, and Sha says you can see the sunset on clear days. It was cloudy on this day, so we went back on the tram before it got late. But we spent a nice amount of time sitting around and people-watching. I thought it was kinda cold though. And people were happily swimming and stuff. I am a weakling used to hot weather, haha.

My load of shopping for the day! Of course I didn't just buy for myself, bought for everyone back home too. Among all this is a pair of boots I got for Mira. I wanted them for myself at first but they didn't have my size. :( So Mama said to get them for her instead. They were only 10 AUD! Holy smokes. I got myself a couple of tops and some leggings and a bunch of other stuff. It was fun. Shopping at Brisbane had a lot more variety though, back when we went a couple of years ago.

So that's it for Day 2! Next time I'll update about the campus. :)

Adelaide Taster Trip Part Un

I have returned from the land Down Under! :D I've been home for a few days and I do believe it is time for an update. Here is the top part of my luggage, complete with Autobots and Purple Kangaroo luggage tags. The bag is actually Nazim's, which is why there is an Autobots luggage tag. The purple kangaroo (I have named her Kangapearl) is mine.

The flight was 6 hours and 40 minutes. I managed to sleep for about 3 hours of it, can't say the same for my parents though. It was kinda uncomfortable. Tried to watch Mukhsin on the in-flight screen thing but got too sleepy halfway through. I had this fish meal thingy at about midnight Malaysian time, which was delicious! Shame I was too sleepy to finish all of it. Anyway, above is a view of Hindley Street, which is where the apartments we stayed at was. Apparently it's nightlife area? Haha.

Reunited with my girls! Gosh, the feeling I had when I saw them walking down the street towards me, haha! I felt a little emotional. Sammie being Sammie came running up and tackle-hugged me. Then Fyra and Aishah got their turns to hug. I realise now that I didn't take enough pictures with Fyra during the trip. :( But here she is!

We were waiting for the tram. Can I just say that Adelaide is such a quaint city? It's so small and cute. Klang Valley feels like a huge universe in comparison.

This was one part of our lunch. Some kind of prawn thingy, can't remember the name. It was delicious! The prawns were super fresh. And the potatoes tasted lovely. We mostly ate seafood because we weren't so sure about the meat being halal. There's a reasonable amount of halal places to eat in the city though, so that's convenient. :)

After lunch the girls and I went to the park while my parents went to do their own thing. There are pedal boats on the river! So cute. I, being a tourist, decided to have a go. It was fun. We took a lot of pics but they're all with Aishah because I left Perry on the shore with Sammie. Pedaled around watching birds crap into the river, swans swimming around and even found a duck nest with three little ducklings in it. Awww.

Here, have a swan.

This is the view from the park, walking towards the city. I love the air there, it's very different from home. Crisper, in a way. And not quite so polluted. The streets are pretty clean, and the public transport is loads more reliable, haha. Anyway, we spent the rest of the day hanging around my apartment, catching up mostly. That's pretty much it for my first day. I'll update about Day 2 when I can. :) For now it is time to go back to the assignment grind! Or at least do something productive. Like draw. Hehe.

Till next time! <3

Mushroom Day

I have declared yesterday as Mushroom Day. To illustrate why, above we see a Portobello Mushroom Burger. Check that baby out. It tasted delicious by the way. Backstory! Yesterday was supposed to be assignment submission day, then class. However, class got cancelled so Nick and I submitted our assignments, then thought of maybe going to watch a movie. Then, lo and behold, Nad called! :D And she announced that she just got a job. Congrats Floofle bb <3 So we all decided to have lunch at Delicous @ Sunway Pyramid to celebrate.

The burger was Nick's, while Nad and I shared a plate of Mushroom Mascarpone Spaghetti. All three of us shared a basket of Crispy Breaded Mushrooms. No picture of that, sorry. I attacked it in hunger before I could grab a photo. Anyway, it was all delicious. I love the little walnut bits in the spaghetti, such lovely texture. And the burger's vegetarian I think, which was kinda confusing because the waiter asked Nick if he's okay with having beef but when the burger arrived, there was not any evidence of bovine remains in sight. How strange.

After that Nad had to go, but Nick and I continued by watching Real Steel. My thoughts? It was really predictable, but I thought the cinematography was pretty and the soundtrack was awesome. And despite it being predictable, I enjoyed it the whole way through. It was a very feel-good movie, I think. :) Although Nick pointed out that they didn't elaborate on a lot of interesting stuff and overall the 'villains' were pretty vanilla. It was a fun watch, anyway.

So now begins a week of holidays. I'll be leaving for Adelaide tonight to go see how it's like Down Under and visit Sammie, Aishah and Fyra. :D We shall be reunited once again. I'll be sure to update next week about my shenanigans there. Till then, tartar! <3

Glowy Kitty

More Project Draweekly. :D This is Alees. I used brushes for the background, check out surfing-ant from Deviantart if you want them too.

Anyway assignments are in full swing right now and at this moment I am procrastinating by updating this. Haha. I really want to update my blog layout, this one has been in use for years. Just need some extra time to sit down and tweak around. Until then, there will be just a few sparse updates. I've been busy the past week, what with assignments and whatnot.

Managed to meet up with Yen though, so that was good. We only ever get to meet up once ever few months, which is a shame. :/ But it's awesome because no matter how long we don't talk, when we do meet up we still get back into the same chatting groove as before. :)

I thought of updating with food pictures and stuff but I've lost the mood, haha. The inspiration to update here is so fleeting. Till next time then!

Drawing Again?

This blog has been neglected and I am so sorry! D:

Just for the sake of updating (I suddenly feel like it. I'm not gonna question it, haha), here are two drawings I've got done within the past month. Haven't been drawing much at all but hoping to get some creative juices spilling now that Sammie and I are working on Project Draweekly together. Basically we're drawing every week together, according to themes! Even though an oceans separate us we can still do projects together. Yay. :3

So Week 1 was for us to draw a redhead and Week 2 was to draw her boyfriend. Here are my results. Week 3 and 4 have merged because of GASP assignments.

Campus life is being tedious lately. I'll be honest, I really prefer Taylor's before the sudden spike in population. I reach campus at 7.30 and parking is already almost to the tiang elektrik in Zone H. Last year if I reached at 7.30 I could still grab a spot in the entrance area. Parking woes aside, assignments are reasonable. Some subjects are more bearable than others. I can't wait to get to UniSA next year and choose my own electives.

Suddenly feel very tired. Could be from the climbing I did earlier today (and yes, I climb regularly now wewt) but dunno, it feels somewhat emotional. Last week I listened to Jet Lag, that new Simple Plan + Natasha Bedingfield song and I teared up wtf. It's not even a slow sad song it's all upbeat and pop rockish. @_@ Oh, hormones.

Hopefully I'll post more stuff in the near future. I want to be active blogging again. :D Also since that Perry is back from the shop I'll be able to take more pictures. Here's to having the drive to get back into this.

Mischief Managed

Ooh, an update, how magical. :D

Today a bunch of us got together to go watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Hannah and I put the plans together, so we ended up buying tickets for 18 people - another 4 tickets were bought on the day itself for other people who decided to tag along with the party. :p

Me and the girls. It was mostly us and Hannah's classmates and siblings.

The movie was pretty good, actually, considering it's a book adaptation. I was fairly satisfied. I liked most of the changes they made in the movie. The only thing I couldn't really get over was *SPOILER* the colour of Liliy's eyes and how Harry didn't fix his own wand before snapping the Elder Wand in half. *END SPOILER* So yeah. Overall, I'm content.

Had a bit of fun with the props and promo material they put up around TGV. :p Movie outing was a success! Yay!

The koala-hamster

So the group's koala-hamster has left for Aussie today. :(
I'm gonna miss you, Sha.
As Sammie said, we're losing our group squeaky toy.

This break has been hectic, so we didn't really get to hang out so much but I'm glad we got to see each other for a couple of times before today rolled along. There was the dinner + sleepover combo a couple of weeks ago. Did some fancy steakhouse visiting at TCM. :)

Everybody! Wewt. Pic credits to Sha's camera Squishy. After that went to Sammie's place to chill under the moon. It was a gorgeous moon by the way. Sat there till 2 in the morning, so got to watch it make its way across the clear night sky.

See? Gah, lovely.

Then spent CNY with Sha and Fyra. Last time I'll be seeing her in a long time. :(
I called it the Three of Us Day of Fun. Spent it hanging at Sha's place the whole day and nomming on Oreo McFlurry.

Last pic.
Sigh.
Classes won't be the same without you, Sha. It's been an awesome two years of knowing each other and one year of close friendship. Here's to you having an awesome time in Aussie.
