NS Hiatus

This is it.

KAMPUNG SRI TAMAN
JENGKA 6, MUKIM CHENOR
DAERAH MARAN
26500, MARAN, PAHANG

I'm leaving tomorrow, have to be at the pick-up point at 8.30. I had the most awesome day today, btw. I got to eat a lot of the food on my Most Awesome Food list: mee rebus, pau kaya, putu bambu, ikan bakar, sotong goreng, nasi lemak. Seriously, alhamdulillah, it was one awesome feast.

So, HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone.
Have fun, whatever you're doing: working, studying, going back to school (muahaha!), driving, job-hunting, scholarship recieving ... whatever it is.

And thanks to everyone for all the kind wishes. :) I intend to enjoy myself. I'm as ready as I would be standing 400 feet above ground with a bungee cord tied around my ankles. But the best part is when you take that step, making up your mind as you go. :)

Ps. Hey guys, I'd appreciate it if you left comments while I'm gone on this post? The c-box doesn't record comments the way I'd like. xD Thanks. Will miss you all!

Polo shirts

Mira:
[talking about Gossip Girl] ... Chuck, Nate and Eric are playing ... what's that thing called? *makes arm-swinging golf-like motions* Polo?
Me:
No, uh ... cr-cr-cri-croquet. Yeah, croquet.
Mira:
Oh. Then what's polo?
Me:
Well ... water polo is the one in the swimming pools.
Mira:
Real polo?
Me:
Oh, those're the ones with the horses.
Mira:
OOHH. Ralph Lauren! :DDD
Me:

ID pls

My new Deviantart ID. I change my IDs every year, so this is the one for 2009.
I know it doesn't look like me, but it was fun to do anyway.
:)
Done entirely on GIMP2.
And yeah, that's my new haircut.
EDIT: Tweaked my 'mouth'. So that it looks a leeeeeeeetle bit more like me than the first one.

Monkey Business

A monkey stole and ate my Kinder Bueno chocolate today.
Climbed in through my window.
S/He tried to take my Toblerone too.
D:
Why must everyone steal my Kinder Bueno?
I've bought five packets in the past week and have only eaten one and a half!!

Year 2008

Well, since that I won't be around for the New Year, I'm making my NY post now. A list of bests and worsts, along with a summary of how the year treated me. :)

SPM - Meh. I'll just say what I've been telling countless relatives and friends of the family for the past month: "It was OK". I didn't feel like dying, but it wasn't the most awesome thing in the world. What can I say? Glad it's over.

School - Haha ... Ko-ku wise, it was pretty good. I finally got that certificate I've been working for the past 5 years. I got some good posts, good certs to back-up my future education and some good experience. Working in HU for Pn. A was horrendous, but I guess I learned something: Paperwork sucks worse than actually getting people to do things so that I'll have paperwork to begin with. xD

Class-wise, frankly, kinda sucked. xD A lot of little quarrels, and by the end of the year, everyone was tense. Overall, it was bearable. The teachers' nagging was the worst. Drove me around the bend. I'm glad that's over with. But I'll miss you guys. :( Ya'll knew how to have fun.

Social - GAH MY FRIENDS ARE AWESOME. BEAR HUG, EVERYONE! *glomps* And also, to my juniors for being cool; proud of you guys. Keep rocking that school. Carry out the pranks and hijinks that I never had the chance to do. Don't tell Pn. M I put you guys up to it. ;)

World Events - Some good, some bad. Some ridiculous. But this is the world, we're talking about. We're all crazy. Yeah. Persoanlly, I've been pretty sick of some of the stuff that kept popping up in the newspapers this year. xD

Now, for the stuff I've enjoyed, whether or not it was released this year, or a century ago:
Movie - Dark Knight. Wowee it was awesome.
TV Show - Friends. I crack a rib laughing.
Cartoon/Anime - Avatar: The Legend of Aang. I've never felt this much love for a cartoon before.
Singer - I don't have favourites.
Band - Fall Out Boy. Still love their songs.
Book - Pendragon: Raven Rise. Had to think a lot about this. But yeah, that book was awesome. The ending especially.
Character - Prince Zuko. Please, don't make him Jesse McCartney. He's too badass! D:
Song(s) - The Man Who Can't Be Moved (The Script), Love Story (Taylor Swift), What A Catch, Donnie (Fall Out Boy)

And now, for the worst (or least liked):
Movie - Over Her Dead Body. Seriously. I actually thought of all the books I could be studying while watching it. It was boring.
TV Show - 90210. Blech. They can't act.
Cartoon/Anime - Most of the crap on Cartoon Network.
Singer - Hmm. Soulja Boi. I hate his music with a passion rivalling the ardent love of a thousand Romeos and Juliets.
Band - Hmm. None.
Book - Eh, Darren Shan's books. I just don't feel it.
Character - Heh. Bella. No offence, peoples. I just really don't like her.
Song(s) - That one Soulja Boi song. And anything by Sean Kingston. xP

Special Mention - Goes to the Twilight series. Neither in the worst or best, it gave me the most entertainment this year. What a ride. xD

Here's a special category, What I would dress up as at a costume party after going through the year 2008: Sabriel, from the Old Kingdom trilogy. Makes me wish there really was a costume party going on, so I could dress up for it. xD

Summary - A good year, once all is said and done. I had fun. Learnt some stuff about myself. Learnt some stuff about people around me. I have great friends, and a good end to high school life. I'll miss everyone from school. We'll see each other in March when the results come out. ;) This was also the year that Tarsha talked me into watching anime. Thanks, man. I'm still iffy about most of the styles, but you helped me open my mind a bit.

I had more to say, but I can't remember. xD So. Here's to an even better year, 2009.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAPA!
ROCK ON. :)

Went to Johnny's for dinner. I got Papa a Boston t-shirt, Mira got him a voucher for a foot massage, Nazim got a speaker for his iPod, Hanna got him a little glass plaque with 'My Papa The Rockstar' on it and Mama got him a new iPod. Overall, it was a cool night. :)

EDIT: Photo credits to Mira. Happy, blob? xD

Gee, who's a little model? Scout really loves the piano. He likes listening to it, walking on it, and ... sleeping on it. xD

I got my ATM card yesterday! Which is awesome. I won't be using it that often, but hey, still feels good to have it anyways.

Random 6 year-old quote:
Mama: Oh, look at the t-shirt ... *reads* Monkey Business.
Hanna: Oh, does that mean the monkey is going to toilet?
Me, Mira and Mama: *choke laughing*

Well, I'm gonna go create my agrobank account tomorrow, what with NS being in less than two weeks (insert panicked gurgle here). Speaking of which, Atuk was talking about how Papa escaped from NS back when he was in Singapore. Apparently the authorities kept coming to the house bothering him for months. O_o But y'know, Singapore NS is 2 and a half years. To which I say, "Malaysia NS 3 months? No problemo senor!"

Time Capsule

I've noticed that every year since Form 3, I've had class quads. As in three people I spend most of my class-time with. In Form 3, it was Nad, Hannah and Iffah. In Form 4, it was Ling Shin, Tarsha and Chan. In Form 5, it was Sophie, Iffah and Nazia. I wish I could get a picture of all of us, together, but that doesn't look like anytime soon. So this is the closest thing; sure, the photo's a little shaky, but these are 4 of the 8 people who have made the biggest impact on my secondary school life. What can I say? I love you guys. <3 onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht2haTlqhUvz9Z2NVw2I9oTjte0vlWPh8mUeJIsi9LOpeAX7zaEitGrb8pQGX9P76aB2CAN4vtc1lD2FMwCymRGifwyWgJe1PxV0m7HxMQYKqGuWxGcvH1risl3j1se_6PtC9yxKQiRg/s1600-h/Picture+004.jpg">
So. Prom. My first one ever.

The night started out with me completely losing my cool with my make-up and hair. As most people know, I'm not a make-up sorta gal, and my hair at its best is held in place with a fancy hairband. Mira did my hair, and everyone worked on my makeup. It's official that I am a very bad make-up reciever. xD

Reached Sime Darby Convention Centre a little before 8. It was mind-numbingly cold. Matches the 'Frozen In Time' theme I guess. ;) Ean and Azura were our hosts for the evening, something I had not expected. They were cool. I toyed with the idea of saying hi to Azura, y'know ... telling her how I'd always watch Disney Buzz on Sunday mornings ... in my pjs. xD Or just say hi. But never got the chance. Maybe one day.

Anyhoo, the performances were great. They gave me good enough reasons to say, love thy local artists. So that was good. Helps that quite a few of them were quite cute. What can I say, there were a lot of good-looking chaps in that hall. Pity majority of them are taken. LOL. The Reza Salleh dude was particularly good. Strong voice, nice music, sweet lyrics. I'mma look his myspace up in a mo. See if I can find his other songs.

When people started slow-dancing, I tried to drag some of the girls up to just sway, y'know, since that we were all date-less. I mean, there was a boy-couple dancing up there together, since that they didn't have dates. Cute.

There also games. Or, uh, a game. The 'scavenger hunt' didn't really work (although I was pretty interested in seeing the results of the 'find a guy with a six pack' prompt) but we continued with the celebrity lookalike contest. The male winner was a Datuk K lookalike. I KID YOU NOT. Azura called him up, and actually made a surprised squeak when he made his way to the front. He turned to the audience and everyone burst into cheers and laughter. It was so cool.

The real dancing didn't start until 11 when everyone took over the dance floor and Atlas (a band) started playing. That was the best part. The lead singer had the wackiest dance moves. xD His expression kept reminding me of Brendan Urie, but other than that, doesn't look like him. But he was amusing. All of us - me, Nad, Hannah, Sophie, Huda, Aidil, Iffah - were dancing in a sort of little circle, doing crazy dance moves. Then someone started a conga line which snaked through the hall.

In the end, we were all exhausted and sweaty. Hannah and I sang A Night To Remember (yes, from the HSM3 movie. So sue me. xD) as we made our way to the front door. And sure, it was a night to remember. Had a real blast. Met some people I haven't seen in a while (shout out to Priscilla and Nisa! *waves*) and ... well, felt like a girl. But mostly, had a rocking good time with people I hold dear. :)

Klaklakakalatu

Bought Creature In The Case by Garth Nix. A sort of short book (for World Book Day) about how Nick Sayre ends up going back to the Old Kingdom after the events in Abhorsen. SPOILERS onwards. Just for the next paragraph.

Anyway, he meets Lirael in the very last few pages of the book, and she saves his life. And well ... who else thinks that they would make a great couple together? Nick seems to really care for her, and the way he kept re-reading her letter to him in the book made me ... well, get inclinations, so to speak. I mean, I toyed with the idea back when I started reading the Lirael book, when we first meet Sam and Nick. And the way she keeps tumbling over her words at the end of the Creature etc. book while talking to him made me want more. Dang it, Garth Nix! You write endings like beginnings! And you don't tell us what happens next! GRARR. But then again, maybe that's why your books are so good in the first place.

I hope he's writing a sequel. I hopehopehopehope. Other Old Kingdom readers out there, what do you think?

In other news, spent past few days having fun outside home. Slept at Nad's house on Friday, which was awesome. Watched a couple movies, slept at 3.30 in the morning then went swimming. Watched The Day The Earth Stood Still (which was pretty boring) with Acu and Mira. Then slept over at Ara, my grandparents' house.

Watched My Sassy Girl for the 2nd time (first at Nad's) which is this really cute romance that made me cry. Seriously. It's sweet. A little sad. Based on a Korean movie, but due to my complete obliviousness to all things Korean and Japanese, I know nothing about it. IMDb seems to hate it because of it being yet another Hollywood adaptation, but personally, I found it very sweet. I could watch it forever, I wouldn't mind. :)

Also watched Pride and Prejudice for like, the 5th time. The Keira Knightley one. I never get tired of it.

Then this morning, I woke up with rashes. D: Which is really weird. My whole body is covered with them. Itches like crazy, so Acu gave me some cream for it. It's sort of similar to something I had back in Form 1. It'll go away in a few days, but for the meantime, it's really annoying. Mama thinks its a bug-bite. Some sort of small mite creature.

Prom's tomorrow. Hope it doesn't itch so bad then.

Also went to Taylor's College open day, for their PJ campus. I really really like their course structure for Mass Comm. I can't think of anywhere else (not many diploma courses ... lots of foundation mostly) and I can only think of UiTM. But Atuk rathers that I not go there 'cause ... well, he's got reasons.

I'm pretty set on Taylor's at the mo though. But I'll be sending in my application after NS, so I have some time to think.

Work in Progress

This is a construction site!
Revamp in progress!
Sea-monkeys at work!
etc.

Just for the time being. Maybe in a day, or half a week, depending on my mood.
Felt that the blog needed a revamp, what with new years coming and stuff like that.

EDIT: Done! That was fun to do. :)

Check up

My health check up for NS was good, except for my ankle. I can't even remember if I blogged about that incident ... basically, I stepped into a longkang hole and twisted my right ankle. I could walk and stuff, so it wasn't a big deal. Problem is, that incident happened before SPM, and it's still hurting whenever I move my foot the wrong way.

We went to see Uncle Amir (Mama's cousin) since that he's a doctor at UM. Turns out it's a tendon problem. I just need to wear an ankle guard while wearing boots during NS, and he wrote out a letter in case I get pains and need to rest.

So I'm still slotted for the 27th Dec intake. :)

Now all I need to do is get my agro bank account done and do some more university researching. I know that I want to do Mass Comm, but as always, I've got a straightforward mind and can't seem to focus on more than one university. So I'm moving slowly. Wish I could go to an education fair and ask questions and stuff, but I missed the last one when I went to Bandung. So we'll see first.

Reset, reset!

Avatar Casting - First Look

All I can say is, are you kidding me???
Jesse McCartney???
Dear God.
If this is true and not some rumour-twisted joke, he better be a bloody good actor.
Or else I don't think I could enjoy this.
Zuko's one of my favourite characters, you CAN'T SPOIL IT FOR MEEEE.
D:

*hopes it's not true*

Ps. I'm OK with the other people. Although I really was wishing they'd get ... y'know ... non-white people.

Does the walker choose the path, or the path choose the walker?

Since that SPM is over, I've started on the delightfully huge pile of books that I bought at the MPH warehouse sale two months ago. I couldn't read them then, what with exams and all, so it was really nice to get cracking. I've forgotten how much I love immersing myself in books that aren't trying to remind me that SPM wants to suck my brains out.

The first book I started on was Sabriel by Garth Nix. It was published in 1995, people. I can't believe that it eluded me for so long. I love love love this series. Trilogy, really. The first book is definitely my favourite, even though I wasn't too fond of how Nix left the ending.

Basically, the story is set in a fictional realm where there is basic technology (sort of circa 1900s, I think) and magic. The Old Kingdom would be the place where magic is strongest, because of the presence of Charter Stones. There are three bloodlines that are most powerful, descendants of the original Charters. They are the Clayr, Abhorsens and the Royal bloodline. The Clayr are a huge group of women, all related, who can see the future. Abhorsens are entasked with making sure the Dead remain dead, if you know what I mean. The Royals are ... well, the reigning Kings and Queens.

In the first book, we meet Sabriel, who is a schoolgirl in Ancelstierre, the country south of the Old Kingdom. Her father is the Abhorsen. One day, she recieves her father's bells (tools with which they use to battle the Dead) and his sword. She concludes that her father is trapped within Death (which has nine precincts, but you'll have to read through the series to understand that better) so she sets out to save him. The Old Kingdom at the moment is without any ruler, King Queen or regent because of a tragedy that occured more than 200 years ago.

SPOILERS from this point on, btw.

Later on, Sabriel reaches her father's house which is pretty much the house of every Abhorsen that has ever lived. She meets Mogget, a small white cat who is a bound servant to the Abhorsen. He isn't really a cat, but after a millenia of being in that form, he's pretty much as cattish as they come. Taking off his collar is a really bad idea, unless you're suicidal. Anyway, they end up in a place called Holehallow at some point where they find a wooden statue of a young man. Sabriel finds something amiss, and thinks that the statue may be someone trapped within Death. She sets him free, and now we have Touchstone (we don't find out his real name till the last book) who was there when the last Queen was murdered by her eldest son, who is now one of the Greater Dead (i.e. bad guy villain man).

Name me a really good main character in fantasy or sci-fi who is female. My favourite right now is Sabriel. Can't help it. Love her guts. And it's difficult for me to like female characters, because most of the time they come across as whiny little ... well, you know. So this was a nice change. Mogget, however, is one of my favourites. He's so cute. I just wanna pick him up and cuddle him till he complains his tail off. And Touchstone's just the sweetest guy. Scary when he loses his cool and goes into berserker/rampage/incredible hulk mode, but he only does that once in the entire book, so it just made it awesome.

If you're looking for a fantasy series with a difference, pick it up. Then tell me about it, because as always, I'm the only one who's gushing about them. ;) It's going to be a movie in a few years, if all goes well. Garth Nix is co-writing, so even though I'm worried, I've got faith in the guy.

In other news, I'm going to Maran, Pahang for NS. My parents wanted me to go to Beranang, where my uncle is, but it's too much hassle so Maran it is. I get to go with Nahjan, Hamizah and Amira (y'know, Pn. Sharifah's daughter), that is if they're OK with the health checks. AWESOME, in my opinion. :D

Do I Dazzle Thee? Yeth? Noth?

So, the post-SPM outing was awesome. Super duper awesome. 11 of us. We nearly took up the entire row.

So. Twilight. The movie.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being "watch if you're intent on going through a few brainwashing therapy sessions" and 10 being "SO AWESOME, WATCH IT EVERYDAY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE", I rate it a 4.

SPOILERS
, btw.

Because really, I'll be honest and say that I had a lot more faith in the movie than the book series (all faith in them flew out the window when I reached Bella's emo session in New Moon) so yeah ... Not that great. xD Before I continue, I remind everyone that this is my opinion. You can all have yours. IMDb, for example, has reviews ranging from the 1 to 10 I was talking about in the previous paragraph. :)

Anyway. Here's the score:

Plot: Actually, a remarkable lot better than the book, which made me want to die, with all the bombastic words. Listen, I take forever to get through Jane Austen. Anything like it, or trying to be like it? My system can't take it. xD So, 7/10.

Characters: Eh. What can I say? Bella's loads nicer here than in the book. The schoolboys are adorable, makes me want to run in there and high five all of them. Carlisle was just how I imagined him. And Charlie? Best damn character in the entire movie. And I found Jasper cute. I liked the whole "... the one who looks like he's in pain is Jasper. [pan to Jasper's semi-constipated face]" Now, the ... person everyone has been waiting for. Bring out Mr. Eddy Currents please!
Oh wait, that's Physics. My bad. SPM still leaving traces. So yeah. Edward is ... Edward. The look of constant constipation on his face was amusing though. And when he sucked on Bella's arm ... reminded me of Scout when he's trying to gnaw my toes off in one of his hyper kitten moods. xD 5/10.

Soundtrack: AWESOMESAUCE. Ridiculously lovely. Loved Edward's lullaby. Need to download arisiiinnggg ... 9/10

Story Flow: Blegh. Felt like dying whenever Bella and Edward started getting romantic. So slow. I actually had time to have a full conversation with Tarsha beside me during one of their intense stare into each other's eyes fests. 4/10.

Special Effects: Not bad. Pretty obvious how they did it, but still cool. Loved the climax scene with the ballet studio. I was flinching in pain with every kick, crunch of bone and howl of pain. Fuuun. But the sparkly bit? Quite ... strange. In my imagination, every time Edward sparkled in the book, all I saw was a great, shining white blob emitting disco lights. So you understand how seeing it for real kinda confused my brain. D: But he looked like he was dipped in glitter. 5/10.

Lines: Some funny, some neutral, some ridiculously cheesy. But I really liked the whole
Bella: I want answers.
Edward: Yes. No. To get to the other side.
Please, other people who were with me ... why was I the only one laughing? That was the best line in the entire film. I loved it. I was giddy with glee. xD

So, there you go. There were more nice parts to balance out the boring ones though. So that was alright. And the setting was gorgeous. Bloody cold-looking, but gorgeous.

That's it for now. Going to Bandung tomorrow. See ya'll in half a week. :)

Behind the Big-O shades

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NAD
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LING SHIN

;D I know it's exams and all, but rock on in a studious way, yeah?

In other ... bloggy events;
Let's play a game!
I call it "Who That There?"

First one to guess gets an imaginary cookie.
I don't think it's that hard though.
Probably ridiculously easy.

EDIT:
Yeah, that's Zac Efron. He whose name sounds like efferent neuron.
*cough*
Laugh with me, Bio students? Yes? No? Oh well. xD
Nad wins the cookie! :D

Anyway, a story behind the random pic-posting. I was hanging around an lj-er's blog, and she happened to be a 'Zefron' fangirl. Not the crazy rabid ones, one of the funny witty ones. Anyway, she had a lot of pics of him on her page. One of which was this. And dagnabbit, I never thought that I'd see the day that I'll admit that yes, Zac Efron is a sexy Disney baby.
Yes.

Honeydukes for the retinas

01. Compose a list of your top 15 sexiest famous men.
02. Collect one picture of each guy on your list.
03. Post them in your journal.
04. Tag 15 people to do the same.

Hee, I've actually wanted to do this for a while. These people are not arranged in any order. First find, first post. :P Oh, and if anybody disagrees with anyone on this list ... well, one man's meat is another man's poison, yeah? Whee. :)

Some of these people are more cute than sexy. So sue me, I'm more of a cute-guy-girl.

Ps. Rule No. 1 up there? Makes me wish I had a guy friend to tag so he'd have to answer with his 15 sexiest men. Way to be sexist, tag meme. xD

Yes, I'm done rambling now. On to the menz!

1. Tom Sturridge

Steel toe boots, yeah?

Taking a break from the war. Tossed my weapons onto the bed and watched Who's Line Is It Anyway? which had me rolling in tears. Then jumped online where my DevArt inbox is full, but I can't be bothered to clear it up.

I'll be neglecting my 'tools' for a while. I'll go back to sharpening my knives and cleaning out my guns tomorrow.

... haha, lamest little soldier this side of the country. xD

Anyway, the subjects were alright. I think I stand a really good chance. It's next week that will be a little more challenging. Brr.

Y'know, I re-read some of the Tillerman cycle books during my study breaks. And I have to say, of all the YA books I've read in my life, these have to be my favourite. Maybe it's just me. But I've found my fictional character brain buddy. As in, we think the same way. Weird, maybe but whatever. I'm a very happy, content little girl, Alhamdulillah.

Keep going, SPM-ers. Long way to go, let's kick some exam paper ass.

Hmm. Feel like sketching. I haven't sketched in a while. *wanders off*

Everyone

The other day, we went to Uncle Nizar's open house barbecue dinner thingy, and everyone was sitting around talking and listening to Uncle Jeff's son play guitar. Then Mira was telling me about how her guitar was still a little out of whack and needed fixing. So I told her to just ask Papa. In the end, we sent Hanna to do the job of informing him:

Hanna: Papa, Kakak's G-string broke.
-silence-
Papa: You know, if you say it that way it means something else.
Everyone in vicinity: *crack up laughing*

Six year-old talk is def cute.

In another dimension of emotions, I'm having this feeling where I'm annoyed with the entire population of the world. It's never been of this scale before, so it's been ... quite interesting. Usually all this stuff is directed towards a lone individual, or just a particular group of people. But now I'm overly cynical and sarcastic and I can't feel ... cheery, y'know?

I was reading this pretty little poetic piece on Deviantart a few minutes ago about a girl and a boy. Usually I get all choked up reading this kind of stuff, but instead, I just raised my eyebrows and go, "Meh, they're all written the bloody same way. Is there no originality anymore? Sure sure, your boyfriend is miserable and makes you feel like crap and probably plays the emo violin, boohoo. Get a new one."

I don't get it. I used to love reading these little poetic semi-depressing snippets. Now they look like trash to me. I can't even talk to people without over-analyzing everything they say and do.

I'm sick of reading newspapers, too(stupid politics). And with exams coming up, I'm not reading much of anything else(stupid exams). I've stopped playing with the characters in my head. They bore me now. And, I'm confused with the spectrum of people I hang out with. Everyone's at extremes, either studying their asses off or not studying at all. Variety's nice and all, but sometimes I wish people would just stick to one thing, or at least stop being such dumbasses about what their extreme about. Doesn't help that I'm in middle ground and SA doesn't seem to produce many medium-achievement students, only multitudes of straight-A-scorers or failures. (No offence meant to anyone, your personality is not proportional to your exam score, live with it.)

Then there's the matter of NS, which I am not looking forward to at this point. I'll miss too many things. I don't feel ready.

I'm tired and I just want to clean out my brain of everything. Like starting fresh. Is this supposed to be a second puberty-anger phase or something? I'm not familiar with it.

I miss feeling optimistic and knowing what's right.

Hotel Adventure

PJ Hilton
After Prefect Lunch 2008.

*four of us are exploring the hotel just for kicks before going home*
*hop into elevator*

Me: Let's go to a random floor. Lucky number?
Liyana: 7!
Shumi: *reaches for 7 button*
Tarsha: No! Not 7! *hits 4 button*
-silence in lift-
Shumi: *words cannot express the look on her face* Tarsha, 4 is the number of death.

*Later on, on level 4*
*In hushed voices*

Me: There's nothing here.
Tarsha: Let's go back.
Shumi: *walks towards end of corridor*
Liyana: *won't stop giggling*
Me: Yeah, let's get back into the lift. And try number 7. We could end up in Hogwarts!
Shumi: Or Narnia.
*pause as idea sinks in*
All: Whoa.

Tarsha: What happens when somebody asks us who we are?
Me: We're tourists.
Tarsha: From India! You can be from Nepal.
Shumi: How about me?
Tarsha: *says something that sounds like roti canai*
Me: Say what?
Tarsha: It's a place. In India.
Me: Oh. Then Liyana can be from Korea!
Liyana: Me, Engilish, no speak! No!

We also visited the meeting room floor, where Tarsha panicked a little and told us to back off, because there're security cameras. Then we went to the swimming pool, but it was raining and some dude yelled at us to go back inside. xD And that was our magicall not-so-eventful hotel adventure. After prefect lunch, which was fun and very yummy. I'm gonna miss everyone ... I barely see most of them in school anymore.

Most likely not posting after this. Tood-loo, good luck to everyone facing SPM, STPM or university finals or what have you.

Royal drama.

Our new kitten, Scout. Name is subject to change at the moment ... some of us *glances at other family members* are torn between Doctor and Che Det. Yes, Che Det, as in Dr. M's nickname. xD You can put the credit for that idea on Nazim, who just read that new Dr. M biography comic and seems to have proclaimed him his new idol.

In other news, the fam and I are going to watch the Mamma Mia! Musical in December. Papa's always liked ABBA and the new movie seems to be a catalyst to the rebirth of his sudden want to watch the musical. So, yay! I spent my childhood lisetning to them on the radio, so alright.

I watched this ^ yesterday. Completely historically inaccurate, but hey, it's entertainment, and it sure does entertain. SPOILERS coming up, so if you'd rather watch it for yourself, hit the Back button, now. Anyhoo, the story centers around two sisters, Anne and Mary Boleyn. Mary is married, and pretty much a good, honset person. Anne on the other hand has been given the challenge of wooing King Henry VIII, in order to glorify the family's name. But the King instead falls for Mary, leaving Anne feeling more than a little betrayed by her sister. Due to a secret marriage with one Henry Percy, Anne is banished to France to wait on the Queen there, since that Mr. Percy is engaged to somebody else.

Meanwhile, Mary becomes the King's mistress, and soon she becomes pregnant, later confined to her bed. Around this time, Anne returns, having learned a thing or two from the French; the King is fascinated by her changed self, and decides to go after her, if you get my meaning. But Anne has plans ... she won't give in to him, she says, because that would be betraying her sister. But the King wouldn't rest, and on the very day Mary gives birth to a son, he promises Anne to never speak to Mary again. Anne, triumphant, sends a betrayed Mary back to the counrty with her newborn baby boy.

Anne continues to play with the King's affections, asking for more and more. The King breaks ties with the Roman Catholic Church for her, just so he can annul his marriage with Catherine of Aragon (or was it Katherine?). This makes him very angry, what with everything crashing down about him. In a fit of rage, he ends up raping Anne (yes, you read right) just before they get married. Oh, and around this point Anne and Mary have forgiven each other and are now together again. Anne becomes pregnant, but gives birth to a baby girl. The King isn't at all pleased, what with his wanting a son. Anne, frightened by the disastrous results of her scheming, falls pregnant again; and miscarriages.

This is the part where I started going "WTFISH D:" a lot. Anne, desperate for a son and scared of informing Henry of the loss of their baby decides to get pregnant again - by her brother George Boleyn (played by Jim Sturgess, who is cute in a puppy-faced sorta way, whee.). Mary, who was probably WTFISHing as much as I was decides to run away (good for her). The thing is, George's wife Jane sees them about to commit the act, and she runs off to tell Henry. In the end, George is executed (it was horrifying. They chopped his head off. And he made this horrible little squeal just before the axe fell. Doesn't help that I think he's too cute to die.) and Anne confesses to Mary (yeah, she came back hoping to save her siblings' skins) that they never commited incest - George couldn't do it (well no duh, man, you're his frickin' sister.). But no amount of begging from Mary could change Henry's mind, and Anne too was executed. Mary later moved to the country with Anne's daughter Elizabeth, where she married Stafford (some guy who worked for her father ... he's sweet.) and basically lived happily ever after THE END.

Phew. So, royal drama like whoa. Like I said, historically inaccurate, but entertaining. Loved the costumes. Made me itch to find a reference so I can draw some pretty dresses. And the acting was alright, although Scarlett Johansen's face annoyed me a bit what with her constant expression of "Oh ... ohh, that's not good. :(". Natalie Portman pulled off Anne's downfall convincingly, you could really see where she started goign a bit cuckoo with the whole "I can't produce a son, I'm so SCREWED! I know, I'll get my brother to impregnate me, then nobody ahs to know I miscarriaged!" scenario.

But just as a note, read a few history articles before discussing the movie with anyone else. I'm lookin' at the IMDb forums, and lots of people are frustrated by the inaccuracy. I don't mind myself ... it's just good television. Speaking of which, I've gotten an urge to watch The Tudors (British t.v. show about ... well, the Tudors, duh.) now ... anyone know where I can find the episodes? :D

Guess who?

For Nad, 'cause I happen to be in an art-farting mood. ;)

EDIT:
And here's yet another drawing. What do catfish eat?

Oodles

Finally got to colour this drawing I made more than a month ago. This is Reina, from my Dime Trap story which is still a work in progress. The story, not the drawing. I'm going to draw Fever real soon. And, here's a five-minute sketch of a young Rolf. Probably around 14 or 15, about the time when he started becoming a pain in the backside. xD
Anyway, I've finished reading Sir Thursday by Garth Nix. My favourite of the Keys to the Kingdom series so far. When I first started reading this series, I lent the books to Tarsha and she pointed out that Arthur, the lead, had a lot more sense in his brain than most other fictional main characters. I re-read the books, and it's TRUE. He actually thinks about things. Before doing them. And the things he worries about are so very realistic. The best part? He's a sweet guy who's humble and does his best, even when he doesn't want to, and he has BACKUP PLANS. And (yes, more kata hubung) when he gets the power (i.e. the Keys) he actually uses them to their fullest extent (except towards the end of the series, because ... gah, just read the book). Instead of flailing around like a lunatic with no clue what he's doing. The thing about Arthuer is, even when he's flailing like a lunatic, he does it sensibly. xD

If he was older (he's probably around 13 or 14 ... not very clear EDIT: He's 12! Holy CRAP. D: ) I would totally have a fictional crush on him. xD Can't wait to read the next book.

Oh, and in case I don't get to tomorrow,
SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI
Maaf Zahir dan Batin

Have a good one and make sure you don't overload on the food. ;) And happy duit-raya-collecting!

Greetings

My horoscope today in the Star newspapers read:

"Something will end for you today."

And I'm like, YEAH BABY. Trials are overrrr.
Now for a short break before I inflate my brain again.
HELLO INTERNETS. Didn't miss you much, but HI anyway.

Saturday, August 30, 2008

Yes, two reasons.

Updating is now not constant for two reasons:

1) Trials. Duh.
2) My computer got taken over by a Trojan Horse pretending to be an Antivirus. It is both very annoying and quite amusing - y'know, to what lengths these people go to make our lives miserable.

Oh, and I watched WALL-E, which was quite nice, but not exactly that awesome. Then I watched Clone Wars because Nazim wanted to. It was NOT awesome. Then bought a Hancock DVD. And y'know, I was pleasantly surprised. It was quite good.

And, I'm reading Breaking Dawn. No offence to you loyal fans, but I laughed every time Bella cried. And the birthing scene was horrifying. And Jacob's imprinting makes me unhappy. :(

Here, have a drawing. Drew her days ago. 'Tis Reina, from my Dime Trap story. She's the one with the aeroplane. Whee.

Dreampiphany

Went to eat mee rebus at Plaza Damas just now, and made friends with a little stray cat. Hanna wanted to call it Pancake, Nazim wanted to call it Cheesecake. They later settled with the name Nickname. Y'know, as a nickname? I love their logic, seriously.

And little Nickname followed Hanna all over the place, since that she was the one dropping bits of chicken haphazardly all over the place. And Hanna said:

"He won't stop following me! Haha. It's because he thinks I'm cute."

To which Mama laughed. And Hanna got embarrassed and distracted her by asking, "Why are we still waiting, is it for the satay?"

In other news, I got hit by a dream-piphany. Which is basically my way of saying, I got a dream which sparekd a story idea in my head. And I feel so guilty, because my current SIPUT project is still floundering in many hurried scribblings and incomplete musings while this dream story already has a basic plot and a title. A TITLE. Dear lord. D:

Anyway, I dreamed that I was a boy. My name was Fever (WTFish, brain? 'Fever'? xD). I lived in a pirate ship with my mother, who looks a hella lot like Chandler's transvestite dad in Friends, and my little sister. We're having a party in our pirate ship room below deck, and I have a heart-to-heart with my mother. Then the doorbell rings, and I thought that it was my father, but instead, it was my mother's boyfriend, this real kooky sorta guy with big glasses. But he was a nice guy, seriously.

Then the dream turns into something of a cyber-western action movie. These guys with guns turn up and start shooting everyone, and they hit an eleven year old boy. They steal a bunch of robots (which looked like TVs on wheels) and run off, leaving the town in chaos. I'm not the Fever-boy anymore at this point ... I'm just observing, like a movie viewer. There's this woman, in the classic leather jacket and tight jeans with short hair, following this little hippie lady who could talk to robots. And one of the robots which wasn't stolen was hanging from a fire escape, cooing to itself and saying, "Oh no, I like it here very much, thanks. Whee."

And the dream changes again. I'm sort of watching Fever, who has now somehow transported himself into an alternate dimension, watching this girl building an aeroplane. He helps the girl out, but she can't see him. And I had the feeling that he loved her. That's about when I woke up.

So, yes. Story idea like WHOA, man. I even have a title for it: Dime Trap. I think it has a nice ring to it. :D Doodlings probably in the future. This does not mean I'm abandoning my SIPUT project. Far from it. It's better this way, I think ... my brain was starting to go stale, mulling over the same ideas all the time. This is a breath of fresh air. The SIPUT project will always be my baby. <3>

The arguments on IMDb Boards regarding racism in movies are:
Long-winded
Redundant
and
Annoying.

Dude. The racism you're all pointing at and howling about? Doesn't exist. It's because of you people, bringing up the topic of racism, that these arguments even exist.
Sheesh.
What with the war on Twilight boards, the over-popularity of The Dark Knight boards, the Western vs. Asian hoo-ha on Dragonball boards, the inactivity on Avatar boards, the Harry Potter boards' anger at WB for pushing the movie back and the idiot racism arguments EVERYWHERE ...
No message board is FUN anymore.
*closes IMDb window*

Man, sometimes I really hate people on the Internet.
Or maybe just people in general.
Not you people reading this, ya'll are cool.

Ps. No, wait. Hollywood is to blame too. Haha.

15 things

Lots of holiday-tags flying around. Which is just as well, since that the lack of school-time chatter has robbed me of interesting bits of life to share. xD

3 Golden Rules.
State 15 weird things/ habits/ little known facts about yourself. The 10 people I tag are to then to follow my footsteps and write their own 15 weird things/habits and little known facts.. No tag backs.

1.
I like to watch people around me, the way they react towards things. Same goes for when I'm watching shows, or reading books.
2. I have two 'voices': the one I use normally, and the one I use with people of authority, i.e. teachers, etc. (I also use this one when answering phones. xD)
3. I take pride in thinking of things differently than other people.
4. I have a slight fear of being awkward around guys since that SA is a girls' school.
5. I always feel the need to buy a book when I go to a bookstore. Doesn't matter if I don't need it.
6. I like to give weird names to things.
7. I am a nagger. Nag, nag, naggity nag. xD
8. Sometimes, I wish that my fictional characters are real. I want to introduce them to all my RL friends and sit back to watch the hilarity ensue.
9. I think being a prefect is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.
10. I re-checked my 'hot guys' list. Majority are British. LOL.
11. I don't mind anime, but I'm upset about the lack of 'other-style' artists I know in real life.
12. I want to do something really BIG before I leave school. I just don't know what.
13. I think that I have the coolest dreams ever. :D
14. I want to get the chance to swim with dolphins one day.
15. ... and now I have the sudden urge to re-write my "List of Things To Do Before I Kick The Bucket". O_o *runs off to find pen and good notebook*

Who to tag ... dude, too many people have done this already. xD So, again, I leave this open to the public to decide for themselves.

Lemme see that sense o' humour.

1. If your lover betrayed you, what will your reaction be?
Depending on how much I'm attached to said person, possibly shed a few tears, then plot the most humiliating break-up ever. I could end up on his list of 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriends'. Buahaha.

2. If you can have a dream to come true, what would it be?
SPM straight As, I suppose.

3. Describe your dream wedding.
Strange. I never imagine my wedding. Not in detail anyway.

4. Are you confused as to what lies ahead of you?
Um. Not really ...

5. What is your ideal lover like?
Grigg. Jane Austen's Book Club. Nad knows. :D

6. Which is more blessed? Loving someone or being loved by someone?
Both ways, I say.

7. How long do you intend to wait for someone you love?
No idea.

8. If the person you secretly like is already attached, what would you do?
Move on. It's strange how this happens quite easily ... but then again, I've never been closely-attached to the secret-admiree.

9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
Not really.

10. Is being tagged fun?
Yeah. :D

11. How do you see yourself in ten years time?
Living life to the fullest and being paid for it. Whoot.

12. Who are the most important people to you?
Friends and family, what can I say.

13. What kind of person do you think the person who tagged you is?
She's mah bestest buddey. <3

14. Would you be single and rich or married and poor?
Single and rich. Better than being depressed in that moneyless marriage.

15. What is the first thing you do every morning?
I'm still dreaming? Oh yeah, I am. Keep eyes closed. Dream is too much fun.

16. Would you give your all in a relationship?
Depends on who's on the other side.

17. If you fell in love with two people at the same time, who would you choose?
Knowing me, I'd do my head in trying to decide and list the pros and cons.

18. What type of friends do you like?
The ones who accept you for who you are, and are there for you.

19. What type of friends do you dislike?
The kind who make idiot jokes. No offence to anyone who feels offended. But ... yeah. Jokes that don't make sense. Like ... rude ones. Yeah. As you can see, I value your sense of humour very highly. Bah. xD

Eight suckers to tag :
I already tagged people just before this, so ... anyone who feels compelled to do this, be my VIP guest. :)

Star-gazing, whoooo.

The sibs and I are staying over at our grandparents' place, so we ended up watching Star Wars in Acu's room till midnight. So, we're giggling around and making jokes about Luke's eyes talking (Love me, Daddy!!! There's still GOOD in youuuuu!) and why Mira and I never noticed that Han Solo has a senget smile:

Me: Dude, we're supposed to notice when guys have senget smiles. Y'know, 'cause it's hot [senget smiles].
Mira: Yeah ... and ... Han Solo is handsome.
Me: Not hot.
Mira: Yeah. Dunno why.
Me: Maybe it's because we know that Harrison Ford is like ... past 60.
Mira: Yeah, that's why.

Then, when commenting on Leia's 'outfit' while the scenes with Jabba the Hut:

Acu: Wow, the princess sure is showing off LOT.
Me: Hmmm. Well ... they're in the desert. It's ... hot? :'D
Acu: But Luke is wearing black. That should be even hotter!
Me: But he's got the Force.
Mira: His own air-cond blowing around inside his baju!
Me: Yeeeaaaaahh. Learning the Force is a package deal.

Then, randomly later while watching Darth Vader ...

Mira: I wonder how he goes to the toilet.
Me: He's a machine. I don't think he goes to the toilet. Or eat, for that matter.
Mira: But still.
Me: Well, he' one with the Force. Magical pee-holding Force?
Mira: Or, he's just got a bag down there to catch everything.
Both of us: *crack up*

During the plane-shooting scene:

Mira: What is that thing? [one of the aliens]
Me: Looks like a ... fish.
Nazim: It's shaped like a sotong.
Me: Well then. Sotong fish.
Mira: I bet they just smooshed them both together.

And, at the very very end, where everyone's celebrating, and you can see the ghosts of the three Jedis who died?

Me: Hey look! It's Obi-Wan ... and Yoda ... and ... HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN??!
Acu: WHAT.
Me: There!
Acu and Mira: Whaaaaat, Hayden Christensen?? :
Me: What the fish? What's he doing there?
Hayden Christensen in movie: *continues to smile happily*
The rest of us: :O
Mira: I feel sorry for the old actor guy who played Anakin in this first trilogy.

So yes, people. Buy the new Star Wars box set! You'll get a random Hayden Christensen cameo. Yup. I'm still not over the weirdness.

Too baaaad.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATUK!
and
HAPPY SWEET 16th SOFEYA!

Firstly, regarding the WB decision in moving the HBP movie to July next year: WTFish, people. WTFish. You're all a bunch of greedy no-good wingdings. If the movie's good, even if you release it on the coldest winter night, it'll top the box office. So what if the writer's strike killed a few things? All the other movies and tv shows pulled through OK. Heck, 2008 is a pretty good movie year in my opinion. I can sense your fear! I bet you guys think the film sucks. Well too bad. >:(

Secondly, hey guys, SA now gives you your homework online! Yippie-kay-yay. *waves white flag miserably*

Oh, I borrowed Breaking Dawn from Sab. It was a very spur-of-the-moment thing; she happened to have the book, but Tarsha was absent, so couln't pass to her. So I took it instead. Haven't read it yet. I just don't have the mood. :(

By the way, I finished reading Nightrise a few days ago. SPOILERS ahead. I thought it was really good. :) My favourite of the series so far. The story starts off a few weeks before the ending of the second book, with Scott and Jamie Tyler instead of the protagonist of the first two books, Matt Freeman. They both have powers; they can read minds, and they've got the whole Jedi-mindtrick deal going on. xD

Anyway, Scott gets kidnapped by the Nightrise Corporation, a company that supports the return of the Old Ones (basically, the evil bad guys). Jamie, lost and confused, ends up getting help from Alice McGuire, a woman who's searching for her son Danny, who was also kidnapped by the company. Horowitz's writing is simple, but effective; I can see everything clearly in my mind. Very good stuff. And the plot is finally starting to come together, giving us a clear picture of just what exactly is happening in this series.

So far, Jamie is my favourite of the Five; Matt is too much of a classic hero for me, and Pedro comes in second. We don't see too much of Scott from the book, but he comes off as the troubled one of the group, if you ask me. The fifth one, the girl, is Scarlett ... but I'm not sure whether I'll like her yet, because we've only met her 'past self'. And the indication is that she might turn out to be the one who does an anti-hero ... but I won't know till the next book, coming out in October.
