Quarantined

Not the movie.
(/lame)

Anyway, the SOC (School of Comm) is under quarantine.
Because of H1N1.
It's cool that we don't have class.
Not cool that they're stealing this from our midterm break.
Isn't that supposed to be Raya time?
You have got to be kidding me.
If this were Sri Aman, I'm sure they would put exams on that date, so that people will attend. I'm hoping this is not a Sri Aman-esque situation.
Grrr.

Internet connection is dead because of some mampus-ed telephone line or something. So boring. If I gotta be quarantined, some Internet connection wouldn't hurt. Haha. So using Papa's broadband right now so I can send the ECS script to Ms. Mary.
When do we have to be back in class?
I am confused.

Ancient cube of Rubik

Spent the past two days sweating in front of the computer.
Reasons:
1) Trying to learn to solve the Rubik's Cube off YouTube.
2) It was freaking hot, man.
3) I'm sick, it's a given to sweat off the fever.

So did it work?
YES IT DID.
I have beaten this crazy game! After years of buying from cheapo souvenir stalls in Melaka and giving up, breaking the cube into pieces because of clumsy fingers and finally deciding never to buy the stupid cube ever again (despite feeling like buying anyway, because it's pretty) I have DONE IT.

Took me two days following the YouTube videos.
And fifteen minutes by myself with some written down notes.
Haven't finished memorizing the moves yet, but hey! I just need to practice a few more times and I'll have it down pat.

That's one box ticked off my Things To Achieve In Life List.
:D

Strawberry sauce

Rainbow kittens. Inspired by the Pink Meow Kitty. :)

Pennacotta by Mama. Yummeyh.

Random convo:
Nazim: Kakya, why do they spell baloney as BO-LOG-NA?
Me: ... That's 'cause baloney is baloney and bologna is bologna.

Today, I am sick.
Bleurgh.
Had it coming I guess. The rest of the sibs already had theirs and I haven't been since the first few days back from NS. I just hope it wears off by the time second sem starts.

Can't remember what I wanted to write here last night.
Fell asleep at 9 because of the meds.
I haven't slept that early since ... since ...
Gosh I can't even remember.
Ah well.

EDIT:
Got results!
Happy beyond belief!
:D
Alhamdulillah.

Fish fingers

Changed my url. The old one was kinda confusing because of the '0' at the end of it. It could either be a zero or an 'o', and I found it difficult to write it down. So yup. Name change. :)

Ski are my initials. Aras is my name backwards.
Tadaa! :)

Today was kinda ... boring. To my college mates, remember that class where Ms. T described how it would be like if humans had no communication? Yeah it felt a little like that. Nobody seemed to be online and everyone was busy with their families. And I knew that across the peninsula, some people were having a DELTA reunion. On a beach. Sigh.

So after moping around with nothing to do (didn't feel like reading, and did a good portion of my assignments) I got a little bored. And Peach, my fish, was splashing around in his tank as usual. Couldn't help it. I stuck my finger into the water.

Yeah that was a brilliant idea. -_-;;

After that watched Friends, which took my mind off things. Best medicine in the world, a few episodes of Friends. Hehe. Then Acu and Mira got home, and my day picked up. Went to Victoria Station for dinner to celebrate Acu getting her PhD. :D Then went to the glasses store in Bangsar to fit myself for a pair of shades. Awesome!

Klaklakakalatu

Bought Creature In The Case by Garth Nix. A sort of short book (for World Book Day) about how Nick Sayre ends up going back to the Old Kingdom after the events in Abhorsen. SPOILERS onwards. Just for the next paragraph.

Anyway, he meets Lirael in the very last few pages of the book, and she saves his life. And well ... who else thinks that they would make a great couple together? Nick seems to really care for her, and the way he kept re-reading her letter to him in the book made me ... well, get inclinations, so to speak. I mean, I toyed with the idea back when I started reading the Lirael book, when we first meet Sam and Nick. And the way she keeps tumbling over her words at the end of the Creature etc. book while talking to him made me want more. Dang it, Garth Nix! You write endings like beginnings! And you don't tell us what happens next! GRARR. But then again, maybe that's why your books are so good in the first place.

I hope he's writing a sequel. I hopehopehopehope. Other Old Kingdom readers out there, what do you think?

In other news, spent past few days having fun outside home. Slept at Nad's house on Friday, which was awesome. Watched a couple movies, slept at 3.30 in the morning then went swimming. Watched The Day The Earth Stood Still (which was pretty boring) with Acu and Mira. Then slept over at Ara, my grandparents' house.

Watched My Sassy Girl for the 2nd time (first at Nad's) which is this really cute romance that made me cry. Seriously. It's sweet. A little sad. Based on a Korean movie, but due to my complete obliviousness to all things Korean and Japanese, I know nothing about it. IMDb seems to hate it because of it being yet another Hollywood adaptation, but personally, I found it very sweet. I could watch it forever, I wouldn't mind. :)

Also watched Pride and Prejudice for like, the 5th time. The Keira Knightley one. I never get tired of it.

Then this morning, I woke up with rashes. D: Which is really weird. My whole body is covered with them. Itches like crazy, so Acu gave me some cream for it. It's sort of similar to something I had back in Form 1. It'll go away in a few days, but for the meantime, it's really annoying. Mama thinks its a bug-bite. Some sort of small mite creature.

Prom's tomorrow. Hope it doesn't itch so bad then.

Also went to Taylor's College open day, for their PJ campus. I really really like their course structure for Mass Comm. I can't think of anywhere else (not many diploma courses ... lots of foundation mostly) and I can only think of UiTM. But Atuk rathers that I not go there 'cause ... well, he's got reasons.

I'm pretty set on Taylor's at the mo though. But I'll be sending in my application after NS, so I have some time to think.

Papers!

That's the exam schedule. It's tiny, but I'm sure you guys don't want to know the details, already have them or just don't have to. :P
But, you can pretty much tell how my November is going to go. Blue is for languages. Pink is mathematics. Green's for the sciences. And purple is for anything else (i.e. Sejarah and P. Islam.)

In fandom-news, I've finished reading the chapter-by-chapter review of Breaking Dawn. This is because I refuse to buy the book itself, and I pretty much don't care about the SPOILERS. But y'know what? This book is incredible. It is so full of fantastic WEIRD that I can't help but stare at it feeling awed/disturbed. I mean ... well, you'll have to read it for yourself. I'll just say that the plot is reminiscent of badly-written fanfiction. But, like I said in my previous post, not at all boring. Nope.

But anyway, to all those Twilight-cynics of the world, here's a link to the most hilarious chapter-by-chapter book reviews on the Internet: click here for the lolz <--- WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS AND FOUL LANGUAGE. PROCEED WITH CAUTION. And you don't have to be a cynic to read it. After all, a true fan would be one who would have the guts to laugh at this kind of stuff.

In Real Life news, I think I may have Hand Foot and Mouth Disease. O_o;; Hanna's been having it for the past few days, and I'm starting to show symptoms, i.e. sores/blisters on hands and feet, sore throat, ulcers. But, y'know, it usually only affects kids and babies, so ... my immune system should be able to fight it off.

Should. D: Immune system? D'you ... d'you hear me? You should be able to. You must. I mean ... I hope it's just a minor case thingy. But the Wikipedia page on it scares me a little. Nazim and Mira are having it too, I think. It's semi-contagious. Should we be allowed in school? :\

Ah well it isn't confirmed that we have it anyway ... I'll just chug some vitamin C down. *runs off looking for oranges*

*is feeling particularly miserable*

Didn't go to school today.
Got stomach flu.
Looks like my dream of getting 100% attendance has been foiled! D:
But never mind, I already got it in Form 2.
But still. I feel like crap right now.
No idea if I can go to school tomorrow.
Blurgh.
*flops over*

Zeh Annual PJK Accident

Every year.

Every single year, since Form 1.

This year, it's my arm. Last year and the year before, my face. The year before that, just general clumsiness. And that first year, my head. xD

Yeah, so I'm in an arm sling. Or, was. I took it off so I can type this. Which is really awkward. 'Cause my arm is sticking out at a 90 degree angle so that I don't feel the weird pain. I can't seem to straighten it. My right arm is all slow, and my left is tired from doing all the work. Poor thing. xD

Basically, it was yet another PJK incident. Ling Shin accidentally ran into me while my arm was outstretched, then next thing I know, it hurts like hell and I'm curled up on the ground, in shock. Felt weird, reminded me of back when I was eight and fell off my bike.

I had to go to the sick-bay after that, and Evelyn, Mina and Xiu Jong started getting into an argument about how best to fix me up. I was dusty, sweaty and teary. And very emotional. I started laughing about how they were all squabbling over my arm, then I started crying. Then they argued about whether I was crying or laughing, and that sent me into another fit of giggly sobs.

They finally settled on tying a sling around my arm and my neck. My name's going down in the record since that they binded my arm. What a way to leave my name at the school. :D

And Ling Shin, IT'S OK. :) It's just a little sprain, it's not your fault. <3 style="font-style: italic;">Sara-who-is-getting-used-to-these-kind-of-things

Old things and new stuff.

What a day.

I'm a little sick today. Flu. A little on the deaf side. Had to ask people to repeat sentences at least twice. I think I'm getting a little bit of a cough too. Ugh.

Not much in school today, other than House meeting thing and Prefect's Meeting. Nothing too special. Or maybe I didn't sense anything, 'cause my whole brain was in a blur? Meh, dunno. I got to talk to my relief class a little ... the Form 1s. Such giggly little things. xD Nice girls. And I realise that to them, I'm this senior prefect in Form 5. None of them can even begin to imagine me at their age. Time sure flies.

On the other hand, I got myself a new pencil.

I'm needing one since that my old one vanished. I had that pencil for three years. Lost it in Form 2 and found it again in Form 3 in the K.H. bengkel's pencil basket thing. So it's been around for quite a while, which is both a nice thing and ... not-so-nice. For one, it had sentimental value. That pencil's seen me through the days where my drawings consisted of one-sided people with no hands to ... well, wherever I am now.

But then it was literally falling apart. It had no eraser ... no bottom, and the tip kept getting jammed. It's a shame that it didn't last 'till after Form 5 though. Well, always time to start things fresh.

Stick-dude seems to agree with the whole 'starting fresh' idea.

I hope I get better by Nazim's and Hanna's birthday party tomorrow. The two of them are as sick as I am, poor things.
